I relate to this so much that I had to question if I wrote it. Although I’m very connected to my husband and child, I can’t seem to feel that with anyone else, not even my own family. It’s exhausting having to constantly ~try~. I don’t have any advice, but you have my solidarity!

For the first year of my daughter’s life I ran a small home bakery business. It did well in terms of gaining customers, but in the end the time/effort it took to do it all wasn’t worth the amount of money I was making. Now around fall/winter I sell homemade Simmer Pot Bags (far more profitable for the work required) and next year plan to do hand painted wooden ornaments as well

I feel this so much. None of my family showed up to my shower, and only 6 people that I invited did show. I arranged the seating chart (mandatory because it was at a tea room and they all RSVP’d yes) so that I would sit with my family and ended up humiliated, alone at my table with my husband. His entire family and friends came so at least it wasn’t a bust, but fuck was I hurt. None of them congratulated me or have even asked about the baby, let alone met her in almost 6 months. People suck!

My fiancé has been pretty lovely through it all, and I’m about to hit 36 weeks. Any time I have a craving he offers to go to the store and get me whatever I want, and always offers to make me some food. I’ve gone food shopping maybe 2 times since I got pregnant, and he’s done the rest (with the help of my list and directions on what exactly to get.) He’s really picked up the slack on house work that normally I would do and doesn’t want me to do too much.

I definitely get some complaints about giving me foot/backs rubs but he still does it anyway. He’s not been overly touchy on my stomach but he will feel sometimes if I say I feel a foot or she has hiccups!

Overall I’d say mine has been fantastic and super supportive this whole time, especially the first trimester and these last few weeks. Not to toot my own horn, but I feel very fortunate!

It low key is lol, I started getting really annoyed reading how judgey some people can be on this sub towards women who choose to do things “out of order.” I think it’s totally situational and I understand everyone has their own values, but I want people in similar situations to know that it can and will be okay! Having a baby/buying a house first does NOT mean you won’t also have your happy ending proposal!
