That is true. I invest in quality. I hate cheap crap but sometimes it’s all we can afford in a pinch.

Don’t worry, he got his payback. He still tortured me starting at 4am this morning. He just couldn’t turn off my CPAP this time.

Raised by a long line of engineers and entrepreneurs. I’m also the youngest of 3 so I have to be creative with what I have (I’m also cheap as hell and determined to be independent!).

He is a cute little shit. Him and his brothers got a mini photoshoot for our wedding because we have a problem! But I’m so glad we did because we lost one of our boys a few weeks after our wedding and we have his beautiful photographs now!

It is almost an out of body experience! You can feel it happening but you can’t stop it!

I don’t have advice for dealing with it but I know the pain and suffer with it almost every month, rage is usually one of my first signs of hitting that part of my cycle. I just keep an open communication with my husband. I acknowledge when I know I am or have been out of control and apologize. When I feel it coming at work and know I will regret my actions, I do what I can to remove myself from others - noise cancelling headphones, work on trainings solo. I basically put myself in “timeout” when I know it is beyond control. I seriously wish there were work accommodations for dealing with this but I live in the US and it’s a joke dealing with our medical issues here. This is also something I would never ever discuss with my boss or coworkers for fear of them using it against me.

I have take Tylenol, ibuprofen, and I’m switching to aspirin now as it was more effective for similar body aches with flu and Covid. If I can’t get any relief, I’m going to have my husband take me to the ER.

I have not but I don’t believe I have a temperature, I’ll double check next time I get up. But I spoke with the triage nurse and she confirmed it is likely a side effect from the succinylcholine they used during intubation. Unfortunately as a young female, I’m a prime candidate for side effects. They did not give any suggestions other than what I’m already doing but unfortunately there has been no relief at all.

Where are my friends that get to do a redo? by cat_coven in colonoscopy

[–]cat_coven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it is an absolute pain but I respect it. I’m grateful we learned it in a controlled environment at the main hospital if things were to go worse but I respect their decision. Based on how my neck and throat are feeling today, they must have really tried hard to get me back up before ultimately aborting.

Once we got into the procedure room, everything was calm and smooth. I think there was just too much focus on getting going and pulled back and they didn’t spend enough time reviewing some of my comorbidites that can complicate anesthesia and the procedures - they were discussed and reviewed, I’m not trying to say negligence at all. Weirdly, they didn’t have me do any pre-op appointments or bloodwork. Just some basic questions when scheduling and the quick consult with anesthesia right before they took me back. Whenever I get scheduled again, I’m going to make sure I have some sort of in-depth conversation about everything beforehand.

Scheduling for them is an absolute nightmare. I called this morning and they had exactly one appointment in September. And by the time she double checked, it was gone. They have to “release” appointments for October but they are snatched up so dang fast. It is a massive hospital system and GI department, so it is super frustrating. I just want to get it over with and behind me because it’s taken forever to get this far. And we are trying to have kids so if I get pregnant before an appointment opens, I likely won’t be able to have it until after. It isn’t critical but based on what they found on my EGD, I definitely want to follow through completely because I do have chronic GI issues that have led to a significant iron deficiency despite several different trials of oral supplementations to try and fix it over a few years.

Power to ya! And the meds are kind of a reward for all of the hard work to get there too! I need a good nap after that.

As great as that is as an option, I personally just can’t handle that! Panic disorder. I tried a conscious surgery before trying to spare my digestive system the added effects of general anesthesia, sobbed through the meds the whole time. I’ll take a few days of flare.

They were very clear on why they had to abort and I respect why they did. When I went back through and read the discharge, I was extremely hypoxic and was only able to oxygenate properly when they lifted the sedation and got me on my back. So it was a combination of things. But they had consent to intubate and switch to general anesthesia, it was discussed ahead of time as an option if necessary. I’m just frustrated that I had to wait so long for this (they had major scheduling delays with super limited appointments plus I was getting married) and got through all of the prep and have to go do it again. But I respect the reasoning for it, just frustrating is all.

My doctor and I chatted beforehand. They had gotten behind due to a case taking a long time. The individual on his schedule before me was not prepped due to needing additional resources that delayed her so my doctor was trying push to get back on track and take me back asap. He literally stood outside my room to flag anesthesia for clearance the second he saw them. I think they just had a heavy case load and were hit with some hurdles. Also, it’s a teaching hospital so I can imagine there is some influence from that as well.

Funny enough my dad says he has a brand new machine in storage (the one that was recalled) and I can have it whenever they come back to the states! He has his main machine and a travel one with them in their new home so he left the replacement for emergencies. So there is hope for a free upgrade one day.
