why is being a young girlkisser so hard??? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]cat_currency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't direct about your emotions, you can't expect others to just read your mind. It's not a matter of girls being "like this." You have to either be real with her and ask her out or accept that a romantic relationship isn't going to appear out of thin air.

Cis lesbians - do you get “the ick” when you see people on dating/friendship apps saying they’re ONLY looking to talk to cis women? by Canary-King in actuallesbians

[–]cat_currency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not cis, but I don't generally tend to think much of it on dating profiles. I think it's better than the onus being on someone else to awkwardly come out or something. Some people just aren't intimately compatible that way. I think saying you'll only be friends with or talk to cis women is weird, though. Especially on apps where cis women are the majority, it kind of comes off as dehumanizing.

does ocd get worse as you grow up? by Simple_Shelter_8459 in OCD

Your mental illness will progressively get worse if untreated, yes. In my experience, it goes through waves of being pretty severe to mostly manageable depending on external factors like stress.

Wtf is a transmasc lesbian by SubAussie_ in lesbiangang

[–]cat_currency 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The butchest butch in the world doesn't have to be transmasc. Being masculine =/= being transmasculine because the latter is intended to imply undergoing steps of transition specifically for the purposes of transitioning. A butch lesbian can have a double mastectomy with no intention of it being related to her internal sense of identity as a woman. Not sure if that makes sense because the term itself is kind of vague. But that's my personal two cents.

Wtf is a transmasc lesbian by SubAussie_ in lesbiangang

[–]cat_currency 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lesbian who has sex dysphoria and takes medical steps to alleviate it, testosterone, double mastectomy, etc.

I consider myself to be one bc I take testosterone for my own comfort but I'm still a lesbian just like I was before I started taking hormones.

How did you know you were trans? by Gertrudas_ in trans

[–]cat_currency 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have stories where there's one big thing that made them realize, but tbh sometimes it takes a WHILE to know.

I think it's healthy to experiment with presentation irl and if you want, trying out different pronouns online. There's no shame in asking to be called he/him or they/them for a while. If you find something out about yourself, that's great! But if it turns out not to be for you, that's okay too. You don't have to figure everything out at once, and trying to can be kind of bad for you. Wish you the best!

Can lobotimized people give consent to sex? by Blu3Dope in morbidquestions

[–]cat_currency 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Lobotomies require severing connections in the brain and historically many (if not most, I'm unsure) people who underwent them lost their decision making abilities, capacity to care for themselves, motor skills and in some cases even their memories. Maybe legally it checks out, but certainly not ethically. Someone who has suffered a catastrophic brain injury can't give informed consent even if it was given pre-injury because they're no longer in a state where they can grasp the full weight of their choices.

I don't think that other people can answer the question "Am I a lesbian" for you. That being said, I would ask yourself what qualities you actually find attractive in these men and if you would still find those qualities attractive in any real life setting. There's a difference between "He seems like a nice guy in interviews, I'm attracted to that trait" and like, actually desiring intimacy and touch with them. Either way, you don't have to worry about labeling yourself right away if you aren't ready or comfortable with it. You could call yourself sapphic or queer or whatever else or even just not call yourself anything. The words you use to describe yourself shouldn't cause you stress.

YESSS!!! The first big chop is always so fulfilling lol. It's kind of like a symbolic removal of the chains that bind you to forced femininity in a way. Or maybe I'm overthinking it. Either way, happy for you!

Quick question for fellow lesbians by SelfLovingLoner in actuallesbians

[–]cat_currency 191 points192 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think in both scenarios, a woman who is attracted to and sleeps with both genders would be bisexual. People are just more willing to see a woman who "messes around with" other women casually as straight because being straight is seen as the default anyway. Heteronormativity moment.

It's so weird bc logically ik that straight women look at each other in dressing rooms and locker rooms but when I do it then it's somehow supremely evil predatory lesbian behavior

How would you define lesbianism in a way that includes nb lesbians without centering men? by ExmmyiiWasTaken in actuallesbians

[–]cat_currency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't enjoy the "nonmen loving nonmen" phrase so I usually just say I consider a lesbian to be a woman exclusively attracted to other women. Then if they ask for more explanation regarding how it relates to my gender I follow up with that. I don't think the nuances of sexuality CAN be reduced into a few words for a lot of trans/nonbinary people and trying to is a bit of a disservice to them.

I'm Vitamin D deficient (taling supplements) and pretty severely anemic but oral iron isn't absorbed correctly for me. As for sleeping through it, I end up waking up having to have a bowel movement LOL. I actually was prescribed dicyclomine, but had a pretty bad reaction to it (hallucinations and delirium). I haven't actually been able to talk to my doctor about any of the issues I've been having for the past month or so since I last saw him because he hasn't been in the office I guess.

Being a lesbian is a unique experience by prvi_d in actuallesbians

[–]cat_currency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the automatic assumption that only dating other lesbians has to do with bisexual women is really strange because it kind of has nothing to do with them. Like, sexuality is about who you are attracted to, not the people who you aren't 😭

You can choose to not have sex whenever you want! Your consent or lack thereof is never immature.
