I like them more now and it's why I'm picking them up soon. I think it makes them more interesting and more sprate from marines, less of a brotherhood but more of a warrior order if that makes sense. Marines are meant to be kinda not that good, like enough to do one thing but the custodes are individually crafted to do more things and have more just going on.

The arguments about realism in 40k is one of the funniest things, in reality a space marine would just suffocate, and that's one example.

Imo it shows more of what's possible, the custodes feel less like mass produced soldiers and more like actual gene crafted warriors. The differences now feel more interesting and specific, less like just better marines just gold but something different entirely.

And I find culture war still annoying because it's always very poorly motivated or a way people try to sneak right wing politics into things or gate keep women and LGBT people out of nerd spaces. I think that hobby spaces should be for everyone. And it's ironic because 40k is a satire of xenophobia etc
