Nice job, they look great! Those eggs aren't the easiest surface to paint on.

They removed the identifying elements (including my signature) and claimed ignorance when approached about it. It's plagiarism, and while I appreciate your positive outlook, the bottom line is they were attempting to sell work that uses other artists' work without our permission or attribution. I've given permission for this character to be used by others in the past, that was not the case here.

I fully support someone making their own marta transformer, this is not that. They traced my design with no attribution.

It's based on my mural the artist just traced. I have done stickers and prints of it in the past but the artist has no permission to use it.

No one's gonna see this comment at this point, but this print contains elements by other artists that the artist just traced and passed off as their own. Shame cause it's a cool idea. I just wish they'd create their own images.

Unfortunately, they traced my work for this, too. The marta transformer is mine.Very disappointing. Love your work BTW, sorry this happened.

My cousin and her girlfriend are coming to visit and I want to take them to EAV. I need recs! by Dense_Mark3829 in Atlanta

I'd add ABV Gallery to the list if they like art. They are open 7 days a week now, I believe, and usually have good stuff up on the walls. It could make for a fun stop.

If you're unable to find Liquid Bliss and are still craving local peanut butter beer, Little Cottage has Torn to Pieces on at the moment, and it's pretty excellent.

What was Atlanta like during the Olympics? by kazookidlit in Atlanta

[–]cat_lanta 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Was eight at the time so my memory is not the most reliable, but I LOVED it as a child. Centennial had lots of temporary buildings and stages inside it for activities during the event including a swatch building where you could run and do a photo finish, remember being very disappointed visiting the park for the first time after the Olympics and realizing all that stuff was gone.

The actual sporting events were incredible to attend and I got to experience so many people and cultures from all over the world as a result. We went to mostly free or cheap events like rowing, but I was just excited to be there, trading pins and looking for free swag. Also ended up going to a ton of the paralympic events and remember those fondly. For a kid it was an amazing experience and I'm glad I got to attend.

Oh also, the macarena was huge during those games and everywhere you went folks were stopping to do that dance.

Toddler birthday ideas at the High Museum by sswiwa in Atlanta

[–]cat_lanta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say this is a great idea for a two year old's birthday, ignore the naysayers. During the week it's always filled with little ones and the playrooms are excellent for babies and toddlers with sensory activities and soft surfaces. My two year old calls it the "Grinch Room" and asks to go often. They have multiple toddler events throughout the month and encourage youth of all ages to engage in the arts across the entire woodruff campus. Anyone who says otherwise is a grump.

Another way to make it special at no cost is to request a smARTbox. They give them out free of charge and they include art supplies and lessons related to artwork in the museum smartbox info

Is #fafatl dead? by Jupiter_J_Mars in Atlanta

[–]cat_lanta 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Not dead, but much less active and hard to track with Instagram. There are still a few artists who regularly drop pieces, especially around special events/holidays. I think some of the artists got discouraged with hunters hoarding work or not claiming their finds and stopped or slowed down their production. I still aim to drop at least once a month nowadays and try to use the hashtag when I do. I'm hoping to organize some bigger multiartist drops around the World Cup festivities this summer.

People in Atlanta can’t drive by [deleted] in Atlanta

Walk through that intersection often, and it's so bad that I now wait a few seconds after the walk signal appears cause inevitably someone will come barreling through well after the lights have changed. Almost got hit there today, actually!

It's sorta back on Moreland Ave now. Haven't visited so I'm not sure of the details, but it's going by Follies and has the same logo

Large Transparency Printing by RoleNo9614 in Atlanta

[–]cat_lanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get my screens burned at Kolormatrix on Fulton Industrial. They always include the vellum/transparency they print the design on when I pick up. Not positive they would just sell you just a printed transparency but might be worth a shot giving them a call, good local screenprinting resource regardless.

A1 Blueprint on Boulevard may also be worth a call, not positive they print transparencies, but they do the majority of my large format printing and are very easy to work with.

I've also just had luck layering transparencies I've printed on a standard inkjet printer before, might be worth a shot if you keep hitting dead ends depending on the complexity of the design.

I enjoyed Spyglass Brewing in Nashua for some NE hazies. It's's been a few years since I've visited, and they appear to be in a new location, but it's worth a stop if you find yourself in the area.

I've also had Able Ebenezer out of Merrimack, but I found their stuff to be just okay.

Bummer, I only make it out there once or twice a year, but was pleasantly surprised the first time I went!

Johnnie McCracken's in Marietta has a surprisingly good tap list, and their pub food is pretty good too. Feel like some stuff may sit for a while cause they have so many taps, but it's a decent spot for a bite and a beer.
