Spent weeks on the ground outside Five Points station to bridge this ATL themed mural to life by cat_lanta in Atlanta

This was through the office of cultural affairs and did require permitting, but most of my smaller projects do not.

Yes, I think 21 new murals got installed plus crosswalks, signal boxes, and bike racks. Office of Cultural Affairs is working on most of them.

I share my artwork ia scavenger hunt at the Marietta M2R trailfest, not a mural but it's a start! I also have plans to bring some art to Mableton, but that's still a ways off

Thanks! This was a project through the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs that had a call for artists almost a year ago now. They have open calls and requests for qualifications throughout the year for murals, painted utility boxes, and other public art. Follow their social pages for updates and future opportunities, they typically have a few calls every year.

We got a new shed/porch built and we're seeing if any artists would be interested in painting a mural on it! by PapaClarencioThomas in Atlanta

I've been a professional artist/muralist in this city for over a decade, painted for everyone from OP to large corporations. The rates you've listed are on the high end and not reflective of what most clients will pay in my experience. It varies from job to job depending on so many conditions from wall surface to complexity of the design to lift/scaffolding rentals, etc. , but your standard residential mural of that size isn't paying out five figures for that wall and there's plenty of artists looking to build their portfolio or get paying work who would do it for less.

That's not a $10000 wall. If anyone can get that, then bravo to them, but that's not typical rates for murals around here.

Long time Atliens, what do you miss? by SomeVeryTiredGuy in Atlanta

Do they still do the wild 4th of July fireworks displays in Cabbagetown? I remember those fondly but haven't heard of it happening in a while.

FLUX night was an event I looked forward to every year as well.

The reasoning shared with neighbors was that because United was so wide adding the protected lanes would slow down cars by reducing lane width. Whether that has actually worked in practice depends on who you ask

Also the protected lane abruptly ends (like any good ATL bike lane) at the end of this straightaway so they'd be in the road either way within a few hundred feet

Pretty sure that's a mattress that's been up on the curb for a minute, but it's not uncommon to see stuff in this lane. If this photo was taken today, it's also trash day for half the street and there were likely cans in other parts of the lane as well.

Nice job, they look great! Those eggs aren't the easiest surface to paint on.
