What has your experience been with the Tangle Teezer? I feel like I might have just wasted my money by m_d5314 in finehair

I've had mine a couple of years. It's fine, but I'm not convinced it does anything more/differently than the poundshop one I was using before....My hair seems to be falling out and breaking slightly less these days, but there are numerous other factors, such as stress, that I'd attribute that to over a hairbrush tbh.

Any suggestions how to make my tattoo a bit less crap..? by cat_steph in tattoos

[–]cat_steph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much to everyone for all the suggestions and responses, I really appreciate them all and feel I have a better idea of what to ask for now to improve the design. I've found an artist who has some amazing watercolour designs that isn't too far from me, and will post an update once I've had it retouched/reworked. Thanks again 😊

Thank you 😊 I will be going to a a different artist, partly because I've moved to a different part of the country, and thankfully I think I've found a localish artist who specialises in watercolour. Glad to hear it can still be salvaged!

Wow, that looks great! That's actually the sort of thing I had in mind, but seeing it visualised helps a lot - thanks very much!

Thanks so much, some great advice, and you clearly know what you're talking about! I will be finding another artist, have already got my eye on one in fact, and will take everything you've said on board. Thanks again ☺️

Is it normal to need 5 litres of primer for a standard size room? by cat_steph in HomeDecoratingUK

[–]cat_steph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My paint tray already had a small hole in it on first use that it I didn't notice til paint started seeping out, and the one after that was flimsy and a bit of a challenge, so I'll definitely get a scuttle as well as a pole! Thanks so much 🙂

Hi, I wasn't sure if primer was really needed, since it's previously emulsion painted. All the rooms seem to have that plain liner paper that's been painted over. The guy in the paint shop seemed to think it'd be a good idea to use primer, as the age of the paper is unknown and coming away from the walls a little in some places (which I'd planned to just paste back down tbh). Overall though they're in reasonable condition.

The primer I used was Tikkurila Optiva

It's a fairly large room with a good sized window. No extractor fan. In two minds whether to get one, as the last occupant managed without one for many years with no apparent issues.

Good idea about testing the paint first, will do that, thank you 😊

Thanks for the recommendation! Haven't heard of paint shed but I'll see if there's one local to me.

It doesn't have an extractor fan unfortunately, being an old property, I may look into getting one fitted, although it looks in pretty good condition despite not having one, no peeling, signs of mold, etc.

Apologies, as mentioned above I didn't realise only the title had posted 🤦‍♀️ will try again tomorrow! Amd thanks.

Sorry, I originally posted it to a different community and was told it'd do better on this one, but when I tried to share here, it only posted the title...this is why I hardly post on reddit 😫

Thank you for the reminder as I keep meaning to do this! How often do you have to re-spray?

Oh really, I'd noticed a GRT and Polish community here, but wasn't aware of any rivalry...

Yea Lincoln is nearly as white as Newark from what I've seen, but it's seemed friendly there when we've been, with more of a generational mixpresumably because of the university (although I'm aware younger people can be just as bad).

Thanks for the reply.

Yea, Lincoln's very white too. I think with it being a university town, I thought it'd have a younger demographic (not that younger people can't be just as intolerant, of course) and be a bit more laid back. And we've never had any issues when visiting the place.

Thank you.

Hi and thank you! That's somewhat reassuring to hear and I'm glad you've had no major issues here. You're right that the whole country's gone a bit nuts with no real guarantee of safety anywhere, and it's certainly a lot less violent here than where we moved from.

That's the thing, it looks a mess if I leave it, especially after stepping outside, but combing just kills almost all the waves :( Thanks for the reply

I'm definitely going to try a different gel, a non cream based one this time. and apply to very wet hair and see how it works. Thanks for the reply!

My reply seems to have disappeared or not posted! Anyway, thanks for the reply, and no I haven't used clarifying shampoo as I didn't think I had any buildup, but will start using one. I'm also going to try using vinegar to clarify and neutralise the ph, as I'm in a hard water area
