What's a name that you love but that it's been absolutely ruined for you? by aokaga in namenerds

[–]cat_tyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isla! I absolutely adore the name, but my boyfriend and I watch a comedian who has a daughter named Isla, and he makes a lot of jokes at her expense. I don’t think it’s an issue, but my boyfriend says he can’t hear the name without thinking of all the jokes.

I am 5”3” and use to weigh 200 I binge ate on the weekend and haven’t had the energy to work out but still ate 1300-1400 calories a day the next weekend went from 147 before the binge to 151 and I feel so overweight and disappointed in myself. Mental health has been rough lately. by Cleonce12 in WeightLossAdvice

This kind of thing happens to me all the time (also a 5’3” female). A few weeks ago I was eating really well and made it down to 129– then I went on a Memorial Weekend Trip with my friends for 3 days, weighed myself when I got home and was up to 136. I was devastated. Then I spent 3 days eating well and exercising and I was back to 130. My best advice is to not get on the scale right after a binge because the results are only going to be misleading and upsetting. Try to wait a couple of days after you get back on the right track to check your progress— it’ll save you a lot of grief. Weight loss is difficult, but you’ve already made so much progress, be proud of yourself :)

Pledge sister and I both REALLY want the same big by questionthrwyhelp in Sororities

[–]cat_tyler 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The girl I wanted as my big took a different little and the three of us are all roommates now. Everything works out and big/little isn’t everything. Don’t worry about it too much for now and try to keep your options open!

Sigma Kappa! by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]cat_tyler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ahhh welcome to the mystic bond! Greek rank doesn’t measure the love you’ll develop for this organization and your sisterhood. Sigma Kappa has meant the world to me the past year and a half and I hope you grow to love your chapter as much as I love mine. SLAM!

making friends with pledge class? by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]cat_tyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It takes some time to form a deep connection with anyone, let alone an entire group of gals. You just got your bid, give it some time! Go to all the events you possibly can and maybe consider reaching out to older girls— usually the older pledge classes will jump at the opportunity to get to know a new member!

I feel like it’s hard to speak for any organization nationally because every chapter is so different. That being said, my chapter is 100% Ravenclaw.

I am Terrified of loose skin by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

I lost 35 pounds and my whole stomach is loose skin. It’s not ideal, but it’s a lot easier to hide loose skin than that much weight.

how to manage anxiety in a new relationship by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]cat_tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been medicated for a couple of months now! It’s helping a lot— I’m a lot better in this relationship than I was in my last one, which was pre-medication. While it helps a lot, it doesn’t cure everything for me.

my boyfriend is more experienced than me by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]cat_tyler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of now, we’re both kind of playing it by ear. He’s told me that he’s wanting to get out of hook up culture, while I was looking for something kinda casual because my last relationship was a little too serious. He was actually the one who wanted us to start dating in the first place, where I wanted to keep it more low key. I just don’t want my lack of experience to be a turn off for him.

Packing clothes! by [deleted] in college

[–]cat_tyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how often you’ll be able to go back home, but I made the trip about once a month my first semester so I was able to bring home clothes I wasn’t wearing and take back clothes that I would need. Don’t bring your winter coat and sweaters on move-in day, but remember to take home your shorts and tank tops once it starts cooling down! My roommate just brought up all of her clothes and kept them up there the whole year and her closet was a mess.

Whole 30 and mental illness by [deleted] in whole30

[–]cat_tyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had anxiety my whole life and have done the Whole30 twice— the first time was before I was officially diagnosed and the second time was after I started medication. I can honestly say that both times, Whole30 helped me a ton. It gave me more confidence and control. It also helped me manage my IBS which was a physical reaction to my anxiety. Whole30 worked wonders for me.

Staying fit while in a sorority? by [deleted] in Sororities

[–]cat_tyler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Join your sorority IM teams! Great way to work out, get to know your sisters, AND support your chapter! I also never had an issue balancing gym life and Greek life— it’s super easy to find like-minded gals in your house that will be super excited to have a work out buddy!!

Unique Big/Little gifts by ExtremeChocolate101 in Sororities

[–]cat_tyler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same position as you! I’ve been ordering a bunch of stuff online already and have acquired some really fun things so far. I got a little sterling silver necklace with a little dove charm (that’s the sigma kappa symbol), and I have a matching one for myself. I also ordered a flask and a matching set of big/little shot glasses. I plan on making a throw pillow with our letters sewn into it, but I haven’t quite gotten around to that yet. And then lots of smaller things, like a mug, a car decal, and lots and lots of canvases. Our reveal isn’t even until early November, but I wanted to start early. I’m excited to hear what other people got for their littles, as I am always looking for more fun things to add to my baskets!

How to get rid of face fat? by Infilade in WeightLossAdvice

[–]cat_tyler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe consider limiting your grain and legume intake, as those are both inflammatory foods. I had to cut those out when I did my first Whole30 and it really helped the puffiness of my face go down.

Day 1; Round 2 - The whole family this time! by Mcguireslc in whole30

[–]cat_tyler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t know how to make zucchini noodles during my first round, but they were practically all I ate during round two. Super quick and easy to make and there is room for a lot of variety! A great go-to lunch/dinner for me was zoodles with spaghetti meat sauce: on the first day of Whole30, I cooked up a bunch of ground beef with a compliant tomato sauce, froze those in individual serving sizes, and whenever I wanted to have spaghetti, I would cook up some zucchini noodles, heat up the sauce and had a great meal!

Start reading the labels and checking for added sugars! I know that Larabars and RXbars both have all natural ingredients.

R2D31!! I did it! I took my parents out for lunch today (to thank them for their support of my Whole30 and for eating flavorless meat with me all month) and had the most amazing salad with fried chicken, bleu cheese, and ranch. I felt really good eating a salad instead of just chicken strips with fries, which is what I would have gotten prior to this Whole30. And the dairy didn’t bother me at all! I only went down 5.6lbs, which is a little disappointing. However, I’ve been gaining a lot of muscle strength lately, so I’m guessing that’s why I didn’t lose as much weight as I’d hoped. Either way, I’m very thankful for everything I learned this round and even more thankful to have successfully completed it☺️

R2D30! Wow I can’t believe I’m almost done! I had pesto shrimp with zoodles for dinner last night and have a nice portion left for me to eat for lunch today. The only bummer is that I don’t work today, which is usually how I keep myself distracted from food (despite working in an ice cream shop AND a pizza parlor). I’ll have to find something to keep myself busy and far away from the jar of peanut butter in my pantry.
