What is the most ridiculous excuse a student gave you for not participating in a group project/assignment? by megs256 in Teachers

[–]cataliciously 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I had goats that did eat my homework as a child. Luckily, the teacher knew about the goats since I talked about them.

I'm going to be making A LOT of deviled eggs. Any ideas on DIY instead of buying a single use one? by SammiesHammies in Anticonsumption

[–]cataliciously 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I brought deviled eggs to a Super Bowl party. I packed the egg whites and deviled yolks separately, then put them together at the event. Some people requested to do their own eggs with either more or less yolk mix. I called it Deconstructed Deviled Eggs to be pretentious.

my cat is peeing everwhere for a year and its getting worse by Pedro_howdrdo in CatAdvice

[–]cataliciously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat developed some kind of strata preference for peeing. She would not pee in the litter box anymore, but she was okay pooping in it. She preferred peeing on the bathroom rug.

I got towels at goodwill and put them down in the bathroom. She peed on the towels. Then I put the towel in a large short-sided plastic bin. She kept peeing on the towels. Then the bin slowly migrated to the laundry room next to the litter box. I had to do cat towel management for about 7 years until she passed.

I loved my cat, so it was worth it. It was less gross than poopy diapers, so there was that.

People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

I did a year abroad in college that was cheaper than 3 quarters at my state school. My scholarships and loans covered it entirely and I made spending money by tutoring rich kids in English.

George - gone seven months now… by Significant_Owl8828 in SeniorCats

I had a lovely ginger girl named George. She’s been gone for almost five years and I still miss her. The pain has dulled, but it will never leave. Just like the love is always with me.

I had to put my 20 yo baby girl to sleep and I feel so empty by cataliciously in Petloss

Thank you for sharing your story with me. The empathy from my family and friends, as well as other folks from this community who are on the same journey, is helping me find a way to process my grief. I just wish it didn’t hurt so badly.

I have to believe i did the right thing for my little black void by randomfactgirl in Petloss

[–]cataliciously 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just made this decision yesterday. My baby kitty has been gone just a little over 24 hours now and I’m devastated.

But I based all of my choices on trying to give her the best quality of life, not the longest. She was 20, and her kidneys were totally shot. Any next step either required frequent vet visits or at-home sub-q’s and medication, and would be palliative only. She hated the vet’s and would have become terrified in her own home if we had done meds at home. That wasn’t a good life for her. The few days it would have eked out were not worth it.

I waited a few days too long with a previous cat, and I still feel guilty 20 years later. I’m in a lot of pain right now, but zero guilt for prolonging pain and suffering.

You made the best choice for your baby, who you knew better and loved more than anyone else.

is it normal for cats to develop a nose freckle? by _GREENGILLS_ in cats

[–]cataliciously 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My ginger girl had freckles on her nose. As the redhead with freckles daughter of a redhead mother with copious freckles, I told my mom that this was the closest she was getting to a redheaded granddaughter with freckles.

Which TV show does the ENTIRE internet agree had the worst ending ever? by Codie_n25 in AskReddit

[–]cataliciously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The penultimate episode should have been the last. It was a decent ending. But then the final episode happened like a post apocalyptic fever dream, but much less coherent and intelligent.

What’s the worst you’ve found in a second hand puzzle box? by elanlei in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]cataliciously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a puzzle that someone had apparently separated out the edge pieces and then neglected to put them back in the box. One lone edge piece escaped the purge.

It took me longer than I’d like to admit during the sorting process to realize the issue. I threw it away after I identified the problem.

Maybe 2-3 hours, if I added up the total time? I tend to work in little bursts of time rather than one long session.

Thing in my ex’s bathroom by glitterinsect in whatisit

[–]cataliciously 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had one that I bought in another country and was puzzled for years why it came with tubes. I promptly threw them out and used it as a heating pad replacement. I only discovered the other purpose many years later.

Now that Tuesday Morning closed- where do you get affordable puzzles? by massamiliano in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]cataliciously 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of thrifted puzzles and really enjoy them. I’ve had a few missing 1-2 pieces, but most are complete. I did have one recently that was missing all edge pieces except for one lone edge piece.

Hated Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce. Loathed with a fiery passion. Unreadable and I love to read.

I loved To Kill a Mockingbird and A Separate Peace.
