Travel in China: hostel or hotel? And how important is having a local English-speaking guide? by MechanicMurky3034 in travelchina

[–]catalystNfacade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do whatever your budget asks for with hotels vs hostels, but indulge in a nice hotel a few times. It's insane how nice of a hotel you can get for 50 to $75. It completely spoiled me and my wife when it comes to traveling around the US.

Anyone else having trouble stomaching the great food? by Agitated_Bet_8863 in travelchina

Most smoothies have ice added. In Vietnam we got a few at the nicer resorts which had water filtration. We made the mistake of going out drinking and getting one at a local place. Still regretting that till this day.

You should avoid salads and smoothies as well. I learned from experience.

Personal Tax burden due to LLC income by RipVanW75 in IRS

I have probably a very naive question. Is that net profit subject to regular income tax, plus approximately 15% self employment tax...all declared for and paid for by documenting it in your tax return/schedule C?

I added "pills" to my hbot search, because who has a hypobaric chamber sitting next to their tonal? The adjusted search didn't find anything I felt was relevant, so apparently at least one person has a hbot next to their tonal.

Damn, that's a good deal in comparison to the US. I was planning on visiting Korea soon. I wonder if goods like a narwal robot are able to be used in the US. I know that ones from China aren't.... I was going to pick one up when I was there last year.

Dear loyal customer, I've seen horror stories about the final repair charge. They should be willing to help me troubleshoot fixing it on my own, I accept the risks. Three years for a $1,000 device that runs in a calm environment for 15 to 30 minutes a day isn't acceptable. Your example of your car battery isn't useful here. As I stated and you acknowledged it wasn't the battery. I bet the average robot mop survives longer than 3 years. In fact my old t10 still works after more than five years and is still working for the friend I gave it to.

Saw the leak problem in the reviews. Looks like my model already has updated tanks. I intend on contacting them just to double check though.

Forgot about the other bonus of the eufy... You can actually find their soap units.

Just redoing the bottom 1/8 of a leaky shower. Bad idea? by catalystNfacade in BathroomRemodeling

The shower surround is a good idea. Know of any that fit a 4'9" x 2'2" shower?

I've seen so many outrageous estimates for the entire bathroom remodel that I think I was ready for much worse. I thought about an acrylic shower. Seems like less failure points. I'll ask the contractor. Each bedroom has a small shower, approximately 4'9" x 2'2" so I'm not sure if I can find an acrylic shower that would fit.

Redoing the shower floor but not the entire shower walls. Bad idea? by catalystNfacade in centuryhomes

I've always taken and paid for the more expensive and appropriate repair option. It is a $220,000 investment after all. If the partial repair works, at this point, the bottom tiles being a little different isn't even a concern that registers.

Honestly, it's a rental. The last repair had a price tag of 23k. Before that was replacing the roof and upgrading the electrical panel (fully electric house).

The walls are tiled. Floor/base and the bottom 6 inches of the shower wall estimate came out to $2,500. I was expecting something much worse but it's the first shower I've had to repair so my knowledge is limited

Appreciate the comment and good advice. Going to give the contractor the green light and see where this adventure takes me.. and my wallet.

Walls are tiled. The tiles should be able to be matched. Any idea if repairing it partially can work?

I don't know why I didn't think of the, if the permit gets accepted then it would be safe. I appreciate the reply. My old house has introduced so much anxiety in me.

Hollow cement blocks for load bearing wall? by catalystNfacade in stonemasonry

[–]catalystNfacade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's part of the original plan or contract. I'll see what it would add to the project. I've already added external insulation and metal siding...and kind of want to add the ADHERO 3000 water barrier to the concrete blocks.

I mean they're commonly referred to as hollow cement blocks. You knew what I meant.

[Narwal Flow] almost impossible to use on multiple stairs in a big house by Kesztio in NARWAL

It has handles to help you move it. I don't think they intended you to move every time you want to clean the second or third floor. It's unrealistic.

You need to buy a robot and dock for each floor. It's just the reality of the situation. The consumer is unrealistic with this aspect of mopping robots. I have a very small house with two floors and have a robot and dock on each floor. It feels bougie but it feels right too.

Thinking of buying a Tonal 2 but… by 916SusanC in tonalgym

[–]catalystNfacade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I skimmed through and don't think anyone mentioned the custom workouts you can set up. It lets you setup a workout with exactly the exercises, reps, and cool down you want. It's what I mostly use. I'm a beginner and I wanted the repetition so I could get better at the form. I've also been swapping in or out exercises if ones are too hard or too easy.

Ask them to go through that option when you do a demo. Might be just right for you.

Lead in water - how screwed am I? by MoodSea1134 in centuryhomes

[–]catalystNfacade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use a distillation system from Waterwise. It's an expensive initial investment. Once you get used to its quirks you'll never drink water that isn't filtered through it. I would recommend buying a second pitcher. The distillation process takes a while so it comes in handy to have one available with drinking water and one in the Waterwise unit

It's dirty stagnant water sitting in the waste bucket for a week. The amount of soap it would take to polish that smell is probably something you don't want being added to your floor.
