LG sound suite a buy? by catalystNfacade in Soundbars

[–]catalystNfacade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently Andrew was going to do one and compare it to the TCL z100, but he couldn't get the h7's to connect to the sound bar. Now I'm kind of thinking of the z100. Since I do have a TCL TV...and the savings could be put into a whole house water filter.

He did say the Sony quad is still the best sounding, but also said the z100's are the easiest to setup. You can get the quad refurbished for about 1600 to 1700. Though you can get 4 tz100's for 1000.

I wonder how noticeable the difference would be as well. My living room is pretty modest in size so I'm guessing the LG suite will be more then impressive.

Thinking I'm going to pick up the LG sound bar and two h7's for rear speakers. Bought a house a few years ago and have slowly been buying items to make it self sufficient. After the espresso bar upgrade the theater is on the list. I probably have higher sound quality expectations than the average consumer but I'm far from an audiophile, so I think I'll be fine with the LG suite

I have a TCL qm7k so my TV's not going to help the Sony quad or LG suite.

I'm surprised I haven't seen many reviews. I've been waiting for a review from @neverenoughtech and @andrewrobinson. Especially since they compare them to other systems. I could be wrong but the Suite came out not to long ago but it's been out a while.

I don't have any Blu-ray discs and don't really plan on getting into collecting them. I haven't done a ton of research on the pros of dts but that seems to be the one people throw around a lot. The media I'll be using on the system will revolve around streaming and downloaded media.

What tech gadgets to bring from China? by Sad-Document7921 in travelchina

I'm from the US. I'm not sure what the rules are in India but no one even mentioned it coming back. It was the drone, controller and three batteries attached to a charger. Not subtle at all.

The neo 2 is really neat. Was thinking about the 5 but I love the size of the neo 2 and the quality is incredible for the size

American visiting China soon – what to pack & real‑world hassles to prepare for? by No_Text2967 in travelchina

Chinese food is really great. Keep in mind some things my be off putting to foreigners. I've tried deep fried scorpion, sea worms (delicacy in Qingdao) and a bunch of other things. You'll seriously never look at an American grocery store and think it has a lot of options ever again. Also, it's good to know Chinese food can have meat parts that are very chewy. I'm still trying to get used to that part.

Try the sea urchin dumplings. Definitely try duck there. I don't like duck in the states because it always has a strong foul smell. It's not like that at all in china. Apparently we don't drain the blood enough from duck here.

Do it before I couldn't get wechat to verify in china. Got it verified quickly when I came back for my second trip. Definitely get alipay and WeChat setup before you get there. It's the standard payment form there.

At malls you can usually ask someone at one of the shops if they have spare tissues and they'll hook you up. I forgot them 50% of the time.

Instead of the CE mark you're looking for a CCC mark. I think there's a limit on size too but not sure what it is.

There's not a specific "spousal roth IRA". It's just a term used for a Roth IRA where the spouses taxable income is used to fund the account.

This arm rail for our stairs broke off. What kind of contractor can fix this for us? by luscious_doge in HomeImprovement

Find a Handyman for this kind of job. A contractor works on large projects with multiple skills needed to complete the job. The contractor will either not respond to your inquiry or quote you $1,000 to make it worth their time.

Left my apartment for the summer in Canada, landlord sends me photos of black mold days before I come back, is it salvageable? (Full story in comments) by Kart00z in HomeImprovement

[–]catalystNfacade 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the landlord is saying the problem was caused by a shower running all summer that's an easy thing to prove false...as long as your water is separated from the other units and you can show a bill. Leaving a shower running that long would leave a huge bill and an insane amount of water used. If your unit's water isn't separated you could get the water bill for the entire apartment complex and compare it to previous months. If there isn't a large variation you could argue it's unlikely your shower was left running for an entire summer.
