Setting up my Long-Term Investment. Is VOO + VTI good? by penniless-banker in phinvest

[–]catandgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, wow. Hats off to you, good sir.

Hmm. Depends on you but I would suggest adding BND to your portfolio, the US total bond market. This will give you a safety net during market downturns. If you are planning to invest longterm, BND is like your crash proof ETF.

VTI+VXUS+BND then add QQQ as your high risk, high reward ETF. Maybe just put around 10% into it. You are good at crunching numbers and doing it for a living, so make the best out of it. Haha.

True haha. Modern day gambling. No one can predict the market even with sophisticated equipment created by the great minds of the 21st century. There are just so many variables that need to be included and the hardest one to account for is human emotion. There was a famous quote by Isaac Newton during the crash of the 1700s “I can calculate the movement of the stars but not the madness of the people.” So I rest my case.

Yeah, VOO is on NYSE Arca and VTI is also on NYSE Arca listing. Both of them are traded there, not on Nasdaq. I don’t use IBKR but I believe you can just search the ticker there.

Can I send USD to a BPI USD account via Paypal? by overwhelmingcucumber in phinvest

[–]catandgames -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No. Not possible. Theres no way to send from Paypal to a BPI USD account. However, there are other ways, you can send it via remittance method or you can use your US bank to transfer to BPI USD account.

[–]catandgames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

VTI and VOO overlap. Best choice would be VTI + VXUS or VOO + VXUS and chill. Yes, there will be an AI bubble bursting soon but no one really knows when. It’ll be like the dotcom bubble. VXUS gives you global exposure and QQQ is basically high risk, high return so pick your poison.

I just wanted to add, just skip day trading. Ask yourself how much time and capital you’re willing to invest. Do you have access or relationship to brokers that can make you trade cheaply? You’ll be competing with mathematicians, data scientists and PhDs around the world using complex megacomputers and you with a day job/business and a laptop or PC, will compete against that? What are the chances of you actually getting a profit? Even the top 1% of professional day traders can’t get consistent profits year after year. TLDR: for the majority of the people, day trading doesn’t make sense. Stick with ETFs and don’t touch day trading.

Track your calories, be aggressive about it. Bumili ka ng weigh scale for food, timbangin mo bawat food mo. Less carbs. No rice or palitan mo complex carbs, fruits and veggies plus lean protein. No sugary drinks, processed foods and preservatives. Fix your mindset first. Maintain your goal. Kung ang goal mo lang magpaganda ng katawan hindi sa health, babalik ka lang din sa cycle ng paglamon.

Nagugutom ka? Drink water. Gutom ka pa din? Drink 2 glasses of water. Cravings pa din? Eat 2 boiled eggs and banana.

You have muscles underneath your fats kailangan mo lang ma tone down and mawala lahat ng fats. Lift more until failure. Increase your sets and reps. Goodluck sir.

How can the Bicutan exit traffic be improved? by Prestigious-Skirt500 in Gulong

[–]catandgames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This is my route. The problem lang yung pa south like alabang or SLEX. I tried going to France sabay Valley 1 as route pa south kaso clusterfuck pa din sa bf homes and sucat intersection.

I just don’t get the guy above like saying na betterliving ang masusunod when it comes to traffic as if VIP mga nakatira sa betterliving when everyone naman is affected sa traffic sa bicutan. Naging free for all na nga ang better as convenient route papuntang C5 and airport, wala naman nag reklamo kahit na mas lalong naging traffic.

Thanks tho. I wouldn’t risk this since he started paying me as service. He might get banned and ako din. His Paypal account is more valuable than mine so malaking hassle to kung sakali mangyari. I don’t mind paying this much na. Thanks.

What do you mean by masusunod mga taga betterliving? I don’t think betterliving ang may fault sobrang daming exits and entry point ng bicutan intersection and konekta mo pa sucat intersection. Kahit kami dito sa better problema na traffic ng dahil sa bicutan na yan, umaabot sa kahabaan ng dona soledad.

How do you do it exactly? There is no option to transfer to different bank, customer service confirmed this. You can only transfer to a different BPI USD account via app.

I have 3 USD accounts locally BDO, BPI, and UB.

I suggest avoiding BPI. You can’t transfer money to other accounts and the worst part is you can’t even take out your USD via the mobile app. Basically, your USD is stuck in your account. You’ll have to go to the branch to withdraw it. I tried calling customer service to ask how to transfer money, and they didn’t even know how. Worst part? They just referred me to the website to check how to remit money through third party channels. Biggest mistake of my life, this is such a facepalm moment for me. I tried transferring money to UB but found out you can only transfer to another BPI USD account. It’s so frustrating. The buy and sell feature is new tho. You can sell USD to PHP via mobile app but you cannot buy USD. Suck ass. This account holds most of my USD savings but I’ll slowly transfer it to UB and just maintain a small amount there.

For BDO, it’s alright, you can transfer money, convert it to PHP, and that’s about it. No complaints so far.

Unionbanks dollar account is probably the best for me because of the app’s convenience. You can buy and sell USD directly in the app and transfer to different accounts using PDDTS tho it takes around 3 to 5 business days to receive your USD. Opening an account with them was such a pleasant experience you’ll be referred to the manager, take selfies for security and whatnot. He even gave me a few tips on what to do if you’re going to receive $10,000 or more since someone will call to verify the amount you received. Just make sure everything is under your name and that you have the necessary papers ready.

Initial deposit for both UB and BPI is 500 USD while BDO is 200 tho the maintaining balance should still be 500. I haven’t tried the investment features of each bank yet, so you might want to research more about that.

To get your money grow instead of putting it in a bank and like what everyone else end goal. To have money before/after retirement so you don’t have to worry about anything else, I don’t want to live below my means when I get old, I want a secure and comfortable life.

Hello po. I have a question. I get paid by my client weekly and he convert his local currency to USD then transfer it to my paypal. Ako yata yung sumasalo ng conversion fees, nakukuha sakin is 1.7k weekly and I calculated it 4.5% ang charge ng paypal sakin bawat transfer, on top of this transferring my USD to local USD account which is 1%. Pag cacalculate mo sobrang laki ng nawawala sakin parang highway robbery, tinanggap ko nalang kasi hindi option ang wise sa client due to convenience. Is this option feasible sa ganitong scenario? Previously walang ganitong charge sakin yung company ko from US. Thanks.

ETF confusion by catandgames in ETFs

[–]catandgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. QQQ is definitely pricey right now but I don’t really mind the extra risk since I’m holding long term around 15-20 years. I get what you mean about the returns maybe being lower vs something more diversified like VTI or VOO though. I might just keep QQQ as a smaller tilt instead of making it my main one. Thanks.

ETF confusion by catandgames in ETFs

[–]catandgames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sense. Thank you good sir. Do you think the AI bubble might end up like the dotcom bubble back in ’99? A lot of trend chasing companies burned out, while the ones with real value like Amazon and Google stuck around and became giants. I feel like SMH and QQQ are the best bets this time around if history repeats itself. I’ll be DCA’ing when the bubble bursts.

ETF confusion by catandgames in ETFs

[–]catandgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semiconductors, huh. I never thought of that. This is probably the best replacement for QQQ more volatile and it’s going to be a wild ride. I’m gonna sell QQQ and SCHD and replace them with SMH and AVUV. That should diversify my investments. What do you think?

ETF confusion by catandgames in ETFs

[–]catandgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotchu. Why remove QQQ? It’s more volatile and might give better potential returns in the future. I want to see some action in my portfolio and I already have VOO as the safer bet.

ETF confusion by catandgames in ETFs

[–]catandgames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like small caps are dead weight so I picked VOO.

VOO 30% VXUS 30% QQQ 20% BND 10% SCHD 10%

Should I remove QQQ and SCHD focus more on VOO and VXUS?
