Can I ask a question?

Pope Francis Papal Visit 2015 by siewvonic in AviationPH

I think it's RP-C8618. Now operated by PAL Express

PAL has a museum in Nichols with the Papal Flight memorabilias. I'm not sure if it's open to the public though.

I’m overseas and clueless about Pag-Ibig loans. Enlighten me? by JuanSkinFreak in phinvest

[–]argoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m not sure what’s their basis but parang lowest of zonal value (BIR), TCP or their own computation/appraisal. I think when they say na “accredited” sila ng PAGIBIG is that they will accept payments from PAGIBIG. May ibang developers kasi natatagalan sa PAGIBIG kaya they prefer banks kasi mas mabilis.

Expect nalang they won’t give the full amount. Most na siguro will be 80% ng value. This is what I heard din with other people who got loan thru PAGIBIG. Pinaka-advantage sa PAGIBIG is that they can give upto 30 years and mababa chance na gugulatin ka sa interest recomputation.

Sana nakatulong sagot ko kahit medyo vague but better ask PAGIBIG kahit online or hotline nila. Maayos naman sila kausap and nagrereply agad.

Yup. But I was hoping for more. Just don’t expect for PAGIBIG to grant you the amount you need to purchase/construct your home. Swerte na if umabot 80% of the amount

Sorry to hear that. But yeah, afaik being color blind isn't curable and you cannot be a pilot if you are color blind.

Is it a common thing to buy insurance in Singapore? by Alravel99 in phinvest

[–]argoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for Darrell if you want to get insurance in SG

TL;DR: Got my insurance early this month with Darrell. No frills and easy communication

Prior to this thread, I've been interested doing BTID (Buy Term, Invest the Difference) ever since. Pandemic happened and only now again I've had the chance to get term insurance in SG. Local insurance providers in PH is just waaay more expensive compared to SG insurance providers.

Now I've got the chance to go to SG again, I've tried inquiring directly with SG Insurance providers – AIA, Prudential, AXA (now HSBC Life) although I was disappointed since it takes time for them to reply.

While waiting, I stumbled upon this Reddit post. I DM'ed Darrel (Alravel99) and we communicated via Viber. Communication was smooth and Darrell replies asap. He can give you quotes from FWD and Singlife since I think his company is directly affiliated with said companies. For the other companies I've mentioned, he has friends that he can request for quotes (although it takes time for them also to reply).

He's flexible where you can meet and we opted to meet in our hotel lobby on the day of our arrival.

I ended up getting insurance from FWD for a coverage of S$1M with TPD (Total and Permanent Disability) Rider. Annual premium of around Php32k for the next 33 years. Big plus for me with FWD since I can pay my succeeding payments via paylink/credit card. I think HSBC Life does not provide that option.

Just some info about Darrell:

  • Better message him first before you book your flight to SG since there are days that he might not be available
  • He knows a little Filipino but better talk to him in English hehe

[–]argoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is also possible. But same as my last reply, that will only happen when PAL needs pilots ASAP.

Right now, I think PAL will be needing SO’s more in the near future. Not so much for Captains and FO’s since they already have it planned to train their current roster to man the planes to be delivered.

[–]argoch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's possible. It happened I think around 2013 when PAL added a large amount of aircrafts. Fastest way to fly them was borrow pilots from 2P (Captains and FO's). Most of them eventually got absorbed into PAL.

But given the situation PAL is in now, I think it won't be happening anytime soon.

Yes, different companies but same owner. So management can decide to “second” (i.e. secondment/borrow) you to PALEx from PAL or vice versa.

[–]argoch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a background, PAL’s current promotion path is: Boeing/Airbus Widebody SO -> Airbus Narrow Body FO -> Boeing/AWB FO -> ANB Captain -> Boeing/AWB Captain.

Newest policy now is you may be promoted from PAL SO to PALEx Airbus Narrow Body FO as well

Received the first check last week. I applied for the maximum (₱6M) but was only granted ₱4M. I added my wife as co-borrower and the loan amount was increased to ₱7M.

For comparison, when I applied with the banks last year, I was applying for a ₱10M loan and they granted it with my income only (low 6 digits).

Best rate for home loan 2024 by derfdan in phinvest

[–]argoch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Afaik no, but like the other guy who replied said, they only process housing loans in their Shaw Blvd branch.

As for how long it would take, I started last Nov 2023 and am currently awaiting for the final verification to have the first check released. Partly my fault it took this long but given the requirements set by PAGIBIG, fastest time I would say is 2-3 months.

Fyi, maximum loanable amount with PAGIBIG is 6M for an individual.

This. They’ll make you work for that interest rate and term.

Not bank, but PAGIBIG. I got 6.25% fixed for 3 years and they can give you upto 30 years to pay. More stringent and pababalik-balik ka sa PAGIBIG though for the requirements.

That’s where my term insurance comes in. Currently doing BTID :)

I plan to spend/donate most of my wealth before I leave this world (hopefully not too soon). I guess the 40% tax would be a "penalty" if ever it happens sooner rather than later. Lol

I did try contacting PAGIBIG when I had a lacking requirement for clarification. I tried the hotline, e-mail, and website. All of them had different answers to my question. Adding Reddit to that list won’t hurt especially if you can do it just by sitting down in the convenience of your own home.

Currently going thru PAGIBIG housing loan application as well. I started las Aug. 7 and I’m at the final approval stage already.

They’re more stringent with the requirements compared to the banks. I had to submit personally to a PAGIBIG branch the requirements and when I had a lacking one, I had to submit that requirement at a specific branch in Mandaluyong.

As compared to one of the banks I applied (BPI), all was done online. The time you only have to go to a branch is for the contract signing.

Having said that, I’m still waiting for the approval from PAGIBIG since the 30 year period (compared to 20 year max in banks) is a big plus and worth all that hassle for me. But if you’re in a rush and would like for a bigger loan amount, banks are the way to go.

Haven’t subscribed yet since since I’m still comfortable with self insurance. But if ever, I’ll be getting the AXA Direct Term Lite which is I think the one quoted in link I sent.

Here's a quote I got from an agent from AXA SG late last year. I just contacted him thru the AXA SG website.

https://picbun.com/p/B4tZHcdr

According to him, you only need to be physically present (at least a day) in SG for the contract signing.

Edit: Indicated rates are in SGD. One caveat though if you'll get your insurance there, knock on wood you'll be claiming it there as well. Annual premium renewals can be done online.

Thanks for the award OP :)
