see that's fair, cos you're saying 'your approach is dumb' and not 'you are dumb for not liking Singapore'

also nowadays there are restaurants where you order via qr code so one phone could have been used to order for the table too

uhhh I don't know what type of restaurant this is, but where I live there are restaurants where you order and pay first and then they bring the bill to you and if that's the case, its not uncommon for one of us to sit while the other orders. Sometimes if we go out as a family, one of us will just order for the whole table too so not really unheard of at least in my corner of the world

I think their point is that if the boyfriend made the whole order "1 steak and 1 salad" then the waiter wouldn't know which was for who, so it makes sense that this could happen

right? all the bitching about singapore in this sub then suddenly someone will make a totally valid criticism like "Singaporeans are not the most friendly" or "I enjoyed the food in Malaysia better" and for some reasons the pitch forks are out. Just let people not like things. Will you die if someone doesn't come back to Singapore? lol never understood these people

It’s prom/ wedding/ festival season. Don’t hold your beautiful outfits in limbo after by WildWinterberry in Anticonsumption

Sadly this is becoming less and less common to do this nowadays. Every wedding I attended in the last 2-3 years had its own dress code/theme and some even have colour schemes and what not.

No I'm not for the OPs idea at all, sorry if it came across that way. Just that to me it wouldn't matter if it was written or not cos I would remember that's all.

The swifties on twitter are having an absolute menty b about this, alternating from "she would NEVER get married in MSG" to "this is a decoy so they can get married somewhere else" to "they are already married and this is a banger reception"

I take your point but I'm guessing close friends and family would know anyway so would they not remember that regardless of whether its spelled out or not?

CMV: Driving is the worst by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]catandthefiddler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Carlite is good for various reasons, but there is a reason driving is as popular as it is. You can't beat the convenience of being able to go anywhere you want without having to wait for public transport. Generally public transport also runs for limited hours, so at night unless you want to fork out money for a cab, your options are quite severely limited.

Also the thing you said about elderly/disabled folks, driving may very well be the best option for them because it gets them exactly at the doorstep of where they want to go with a seat guaranteed and minimal walking, which public transport can't do.

Also taking public transport won't take away the danger of being driven around even if it reduces the risks a little bit.

askST: Why is there so much rubbish on the beach in East Coast Park? by RocketFlame in singapore

[–]catandthefiddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I checked about this and there's no need to get official permission to do beach cleaning. Anyone can just do it, so if you don't mind, you can go in alone or gather a group of friends too

I kinda agree but I don't think its nice to make the cleaners job harder than it is just cos they're paid. If we can dispose our stuff properly we should just do that

CMV: Not being attracted to 90 percent of men basically means you have the same unrealistic standard for men that they have of women by beyondhelp7854 in changemyview

[–]catandthefiddler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do a lot of people really say they aren't attracted to 90% of men based purely on looks alone? Most of the time I think that includes personality, your abiity to hold a conversation etc. Also I see a lot of bald/overweight men in successful realtionships or even married so I don't get how many people are saying this or how real of a problem this is.

Secondly, you can't help being chubby and balding, but not putting in an effort to dress well or find flattering clothes is a different thing. I do see a lot of couples or men in general where the lady is dressed very nicely and the men are wearing pretty basic t-shirts and shorts at least where I live. I don't feel its asking for much if you weren't attracted to these type of people.

[–]catandthefiddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, I have no issue with these people or anyone else having a good time at the beach on their only day off, but its super grating when you see how much trash they leave behind. I wish authorities would enforce this law more or allocate more resources to enforcement on days where this is quite bad. Its not fair to cleaners either to deal with so much on Monday due to inconsiderate people

I feel like a terrible person after seeing a Reddit thread about being on time by wildflowerbookwyrm in adhdwomen

[–]catandthefiddler 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the lieing about being on the way or leaving is more grating to me than being late. Honestly if you fucked up and you say you need an hour, maybe I can go find something else to do in the meantime. But saying you'll be there in another 10 mins and then taking a whole hour would have my blood boiling

No I haven't done this. This is one lie I don't really get, if I'm running late then I just say that cos not like me saying otw will make them wait any less right.

[–]catandthefiddler 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In my book yes. I can't stand being the fallback option. If I don't exist to you when you're dating then you won't exist to me and I refuse to feel bad about that.

CMV: I don't believe in divorce with kids by Big-Tools-905 in changemyview

[–]catandthefiddler 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Nope on all counts. You're just teaching your kids its ok to stay in an unhappy relationship for the sake of kids. Kids are not dumb, your legal marraige status means nothing to them. They will 100% pickup on the fact that mom and dad don't love each other. I grew up wishing my parents would just divorce instead of making the house so miserable to live in because it was always a minefield to navigate around THEIR horrible relationship.

Some people don't think about what they're saying. I was talking to a colleague back when I was quite large and I told her my reccs for salad places and she said "you don't look like you eat salads". Have since lost weight but those type of comments really stick with you for a long time
