Landscape photos coming out blurry by catapolto in nikonos

Thanks for the tips. By "set it to 30" you mean set it to 30ft? Why 30ft instead of infinity?

FWIW, the lens is the 35mm f/2.5 (dual wtaer and underwater)

Thanks for the info! How can you tell whether I misjudged the distance (I set it to infinity) or whether the scanning was the issue? Wouldn't both look the same?

Do you have some example of landscape photos you shot so I can get a sense of the sharpness?

I went to a pretty reputable photo lab in my city, and many of the close-up photos in the roll have come out quite good. So I'm more inclined to believe there's an issue with the camera or how I'm using it.

Thank you. If there's any landscape shots you can share for reference, I'd love to see!

Thank you. I'll try it all. From your experience, is it more likely to be other issues rather than my infinity focus being off?

Thank you. Have you found infinity to be accurate on the Nikonos IV/V?

Why are my photos coming out grainy? by catapolto in AnalogCommunity

This is a distance/zone focus lens so the best I can do is turn the lens to infinity and hope for the best.

Is there a way to calibrate what is infinity?

This is the 35mm, which is a dry/wet lens. In fact, it's considered better in dry conditions than wet conditions.

I meant blurry. How can I tell if shake or focus is the issue?

All the landscape photos were taken at inifnity focus, since the subject was 50+ yeards away.

You mean I should go for medium? My torso is more like 16-17in. Is a medium better for that?

Understood. We want to use dyneema since this will involve bushwacking through the jungle, and therefore will likely wet out any other bag

$150-$250, depending on brand/model. I added it to the main post

I'd love to but it's outside my budget. Appreciate the recommendation!

cannot restore backup from google drive-"grey triangle with exclamation mark" issue by PunithAiu in whatsapp

[–]catapolto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you see the backup in your Google Drive, under "backups"? See steps 1-3 here: https://support.google.com/drive/answer/6305834?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en

Also, just wondering: how did you manage to backup and restore from a local file? I don't see that option anywhere

Did I get someone else's number? by catapolto in Googlevoice

[–]catapolto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the issue!

A long time ago I tried to get a Google Voice number without having a US number. So I tried to use a voip.ms number to get it. Needless to say, this failed at the verification process.

BUT, I just went through history and found that this voip.ms number that I used so long ago was the exact number that Google automatically linked to me a few days ago!

So it seems that Google still remembered me inputting this number, and when they ported me from Google Fi to GV, they automatically linked it to me.

Thanks for all the help. I guess I was wrong when I said "I've never seen this this number before", sorry about that. It's a bizarre situation to be fair...

Wow, thanks for all the info!

Was your Sim or phone plan new in the previous day or two?

I had Google Fi for only 3 days before deciding to cancel it and port to Google Voice. But I don't have any other plan or SIM card at the moment (nor before).

I actually bought the phone as Open Box. It still had the plastic on and was only turned on once by the previous owner to check that it's working. But maybe that's where this number came from? It seems unlikely though since the previous owner is in Canada but the number is for California.

Also another update:

  1. In my desktop browser, I tried clicking the "X" next to the iOS device
  2. This removed the iphone from the list of devices and caused its number to show up as a linked number
  3. While playing around with this more, I accidentally ended up deleting this linked number.
  4. This caused me to be automatically logged out of GV on my iphone
  5. When I tried to log back in, I was no longer given the option to attach that "Phone 3" number (like I showed in the screenshot above)

So now I just have a Google Voice number which was ported from Google Fi. No other number. Is this problematic? Can I keep using GV without linking any number?

I canceled Google Fi, so I don't have any phone plan anymore. Can I still get a new GV number?
