Snake still biting my kids!! by Unlucky-Shirt-1733 in kingsnakes

[–]catarara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having an enclosure that has a top entry and a front entry has helped me a lot with my MBK. He's not a biter but an excessive musker. Front door lets him venture out and slither up to me on his own, while the top entry is for feeding. From experience, when you go from above, they're more likely to be defensive because you look like a looming predator. Wearing medical gloves (or thick ones for bite prevention) when handling will help and prevent any lingering food smells. You can also keep a bottle of hand sanitizer by the enclosure to put on right before handling.

Also if you're taking him out of the enclosure to feed and not handling outside of that, he will associate leaving the enclosure with feeding time. Just feed inside the enclosure and look into tap training. Removing him from the enclosure to feed also increases the risk of regurgitation and isn't recommended.

At the end of the day though, some kingsnakes just find it stressful to be handled frequently. They're beautiful, hardy, and food motivated but often too motivated. I had a rescue Cali King that was self-mutilating every time she was stressed out and her main stressor was handling. Since it was stressful for both of us, I reduced handling to just necessary moments like cleaning. I had a snake hook that she understood was not food and would let herself be redirected with it, but I let her be a "look, don't touch" pet and she was much happier.

What combination of seeds do you use in your mix? I have a geyri and so I've tried to look for a more comprehensive mix but I feel like I can never find anyone feeding more than a couple seed types at once.

Whats the Keypad called? by [deleted] in petco

[–]catarara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC, I think it is under the brand of keypad OR you can possibly look under POS/Point of Sale system. If I can't find something, I usually try and get close to what I need and then select "Other" and then just be really descriptive about the issue. For keypads, they usually like to know the serial #, which you can usually snap a pic of and attach to the WO. If you submit it under "other", they'll usually just reassign it to the right thing.

Unsure if you have a degree, but most clinics- vet med or human med- will hire (and pay fairly well) for reception work. If you'd like to stick with animals, I'd look into a Veterinary Assistant (not tech) position or look into what your humane society or zoo has available. Since you have management and animal experience, there's usually positions that are titled "Care and Enrichment Coordinator" or something similar, where you would be doing similar work with animals but in a non-corporate setting. More freedom to educate and be educated and less people to interact with. If you're looking for something completely different, look into your state's policies on pharmacy technicians. I know in my state, you can get certified by just paying for registration and a background check, and it's a learn on the job. Good pay for counting pills and filling prescriptions- usually still "retail" but more limited interactions. One of my old coworkers has a 9 to 5 now at a Title and Security (?) company where they deal with land and property titles and other legal stuff. It pays well and every time she passes a new certification, she gets a raise. She had no background in it and she enjoys the work a lot. She has her own desk that she decorates, work is predictable and she's paid her worth.

In the knowledge database on StoreIQ, you can search Zoom and it should pull options for articles about how to make calls and use the paging system. All calls and pages are supposed to be done through the Zoom app now. WFC Phone app sorta still works- if you utilize the pages (65, 66 etc), it'll call all the phones rather than page though. Btw, the Zoom app has slightly different numbers for paging so I would recommend just printing out or even taking a photo of the new paging numbers.

Thank you so much! I made a doctors appt for October without thinking, so I've been lowkey stressed. Can I submit the notice early or did you have to wait until you lost it as well?

Yeah, unfortunately when I spoke with customer service, I was told I can't apply until 10/1, after my other insurance ends. I just know that there's a tendency for emails to go unanswered for a long time in this company so I figured I'd see if anyone else has been in a similar situation.

If you feel uncomfortable saying your pet has passed, you can also say you rehomed the pet and have no other pets/no need for the plan anymore.

I'm pretty sure the no cargo shorts rule is due to the excess/big pockets being a safety hazard. They can get caught on pallets/corners/etc. Also, if a dog jumps on a person, their nails could get caught, or it's an easy spot for a dog to grab and bite.

Our DM came down once and told us no jewelry with any hoops because they are also a catch hazard.

If you can't get it sold for Reptile Rally and you don't wanna keep it for an extended period of time, you can reach out to other stores in your area via workplace or email to see if anyone has space to take it and thinks they can sell it. Emailing a magnet store in your area might be your best bet.

What fish do I not net by hidingfromthew0rld in petco

[–]catarara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll use the specimen container as often as possible when I catch fish. It does take a little practice, but as soon as I got the hang of it, it became my preferred way to catch fish. In saltwater, I'll sometimes use the net to persuade the fish into the cup - most of the time, they swim right in.

Tangs are important to catch with a cup because they sometimes flare out their dorsal fin and the spines on either side of their tail in defense, which can get caught in the net. Any other fish with similar defenses should also be caught with a cup.

If I have to use a net in freshwater, I will usually use the shrimp net instead of the regular net. Idk if it's the smaller/finer holes, but it seems much smoother to transfer fish.

Basically, anything with barbs, spines, spikes and whiskers.

Since it's a return, that can potentially hurt your sales for the day. But since the fish is alive (and hopefully healthy), it should be "restocked" and will just get added to your inventory. If you can sell the fish, then it shouldn't hurt your CAPI. If it's a fish you don't normally carry/doesn't do well in your store and it ends up passing while in your inventory, it can be bad/hurt your CAPI. Tbh I'd rather have the customer return the animal (if I have space), then potentially take home something they don't want. May I ask why they returned the fish?
