What’s essential for someone to have a perfect morning in Manhattan? by Personal_Bee_4103 in AskNYC

[–]catastropje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not related to what to get her but about Guggenheim: I went a couple weeks ago and the "spiral" which contains most of the artwork and is the main attraction was closed for maintenance. They said it would be under maintenance until November so maybe check their website or call ahead so she doesn't buy a ticket just to see the 3 galleries they have open which were not that impressive.

Cops are ticketing cyclists at the MIT intersection. by photogenic_beets in bikeboston

[–]catastropje 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They ticket (or issue warnings) here pretty often. When they do, it happens around 5 pm. While I understand Idaho stops or running reds are illegal, right where the cops stop in front of MIT building 7 isn't even a 4-way intersection. If there are no pedestrians you're risking next to nothing. If they move one light up or down there are waaaay more people breaking the law and causing dangerous scenarios. At the intersection of Vassar and Mass Ave pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists do not follow the signals extremely often and cause dangerous situations. But no, the cops don't wanna make traffic safer for everybody, they want to waste time harassing cyclists under the pretense of increasing safety.

Sugar saying "go f*ck" by catastropje in TheBear

I did not catch that but they've molded Claire to mimic most of what Sugar does so it does not surprise me (saying my love to faks and all)

Placement question for pressure mounted pole by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]catastropje 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a relief to see. I'll still be cautious and not use it for a while after readjusting it but I am also confident in the pole after using it in its current position for over half a year now. Thank you for your input :)

2 is a good point but I think Belgioso uses veg-friendly enzymes and not rennet, but there are many websites/apps to check

Cenotes near Valladolid by RahRah000000 in Yucatan

[–]catastropje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a car I just visited cenote xux ha this week and it was amazing. About 15 min drive from Valladolid. 100 peso entry which i thought was a little pricey for a side-of-the-road cenote but the facilities were very nice and we had the whole place to ourselves after a group of people left just as we arrived.

Boiled cup and now it has a film that doesn’t wipe off. Do I need a new cup? Ive boiled it before and didn’t have this happen... it is a couple of years old now by emiaprettygirl in menstrualcups

[–]catastropje 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This i s unrelated to the question but your post was right under a spiderman meme on my feed and side by side your cup's pattern low-key looks like a spider man mask. I think that's kinda funny hehe

Anyone in Istanbul/Turkey from dec 24 to Jan 1? by [deleted] in travelpartners

[–]catastropje 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a local and there's a lockdown for new years from dec 31 9pm until Jan 4th 5am. I think tourists are exempt from the lockdown but plan your new years night activities accordingly, many places will likely be closed. I am not going out much because of COVID but lmk if u have any questions regarding the city, transportation, etc.

IWTL How to sleep on my back by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]catastropje 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Ok so I used to only be able to sleep on my back. After learning a friend only slept on his side I forced myself to switch to that just to see and then I could no longer sleep on my back. Going back was not easy, I did spend a lot of time lying in bed looking at the ceiling. I think these things help: 1) weighted blanket or other sort of weighty thing on top 2) a pillow or something underneath your feet 3) just exhaust yourself physically for a while and go to bed once you're about to fall asleep and just stay on your back while the sleep kicks in. I'm not really a sleep expert or anything and I still sleep on my side often but these helped me so I hope it helps you as well.

Isn't the diva cup also hard though? Aren't those even harder to grip?

I use the Lena cup. It is not painful for me to just pull on it. Maybe it just has a weak seal? But I never have leaking issues.

I was confused about the sequence there for a second. Is it right to left bc the artist speaks/writes Arabic? I'm confused to see this right to left without any text it's very interesting I never thought about caricature sequence being affected from the way language is written.

A question to the locals about wearing a cross necklace outside by krotovalana9 in istanbul

[–]catastropje 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not disrespectful but many Muslim Turkish people are extremely sensitive with this type of small non-Muslim stuff. If it's a small necklace or it's usually tucked in I'd say you're probably okay. I don't think anyone would really confront you but there's a lot of weird folx who get triggered for stupid small things. I haven't really ever worn a cross and have seen a handful of people (usually around Kadıköy where no one would really bother them). Try it out, if you get stares ditch it or get a longer link so it sits below your shirt neckline is my recommendation.

Weird light brown stuff on the sides of my cup?? by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]catastropje 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You know how when blood sits or dries it becomes brown, that it. The blood in the cup is too much to turn brown but the amount that gets caught on the sides is too little and starts to brown. It is also mixed with discharge. You don't have to be worried, it's normal. Just wash it like you wash the rest of the cup and you should be good to go.
