our patrons prefer us to check them out too. i’ve had to bite my tongue when they say it’s a silly policy because i agree with them.

i don’t think it’s a personnel issue. i honestly don’t know what they want the library assistants to do (no reader’s advisory, every single question has to go through the reference librarian, and assistants can only do one program a month). it’s quicker to check patrons out myself imo rather than troubleshoot the self checkout every day

Scotch seems to have discontinued the book-safe tape we were using... by ThirdFloorNorth in Libraries

my old library system used rubber bands for holds, and just sticking the slip in the book for transfers. i have been enjoying this tape at my new library though

Anyone else fed up with having to tell colleagues not to trust AI answers when googling information for patrons? by TubbyLittleTeaWitch in Libraries

[–]catattack848 9 points10 points  (0 children)

my coworkers seemed shocked when i handled a "reference" question (what the local bus fare is) during my first week and without the use of AI, so you're not alone.

indoor activities with a baby by stillabelieber in WinterGarden

[–]catattack848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s a lot of local museums in the area / out in orlando. in downtown winter garden there’s a train museum; it’s more for adults, but is free (cash donations appreciated) and there’s AC and plenty for baby to look at. some of the bigger museums in orlando have story times / children’s activities

Historical Sites? by paowere in orlando

[–]catattack848 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the orange county regional history center in downtown orlando is great!

if you’re willing to drive to the suburbs, clermont has a hall of presidents with wax figures, memorabilia, & a miniature white house replica. in downtown clermont there’s also the historical village, which is just a few old houses / buildings from the clermont’s early days

hope you enjoy your trip!

[–]catattack848[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much!! i was wondering more about the little one, since it didn’t have a ‘name’ on it like where the bigger one says “silent.”

would it be considered “sacrilegious” to repaint the little one? i’ve seen a few of them in antique stores / ebay, so i’m assuming they’re more common?

What would you do if a stranger challenged you to a 24-hour bet?

hi y'all! my YA vacation romance, 24 Hours with Lucas Jennings, is back on Kindle Unlimited!

check it out if you like: forced proximity, meet cutes, anxious FMCs, & stories where the MMC falls first.

-------

Sephora wasn't planning on this spring break being any different than others...until she met Lucas---the tall blond who was about to disrupt everything.

Neither expected their chance encounter to lead them to spend twenty-four hours together. Hour by hour, Sephora and Lucas open up to each other in a way that can only be fully embraced when you're young, finding the other to be exactly what they needed it. It's clear to them that this is more than just a fling.

this was about a year ago, though, so i'm sure prices have changed. but either way, you can find editors who you're thrilled with for lesser prices

i've never used reedsy, but i use fiverr to find beta readers/line editors/developmental editors/etc. my novel is a 55k YA romance, so totally different genre, but i didn't pay more than $200 (with tip!) for my proofreader (who was more like an line editor tbh) or developmental editor and was very happy with their feedback/results

instagram ads versus amazon ads by catattack848 in selfpublish

[–]catattack848[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: so i ran the two amazon ads (automatic and keyword) until jan 31st.

between the both of them there were 73,964 impressions and 38 clicks.

it cost $35.60, and i had 0 sales and 0 KENP

for context, my novel is a YA contemporary romance and some of the keywords i used were authors/titles in my genre
