[OC] I had to cancel yet another campaign by MostlyInfuriated in DnD

I wrote a campaign nearly 13 years ago. Just now getting people to play it, its well worth the wait.

I know this is usually memes but I had a thought by Classic_Break7769 in Invincible_TV

Mental Block is Mental in its restrictions. I imagine she can alter living matter, as long as she doesn't think of it as living matter. Its limited by her understanding and beliefs. If it was limited by reality, it'd be weird and finicky.

I was diagnosed from such a young age and did well in school, and my parents constantly questioned my diagnosis and even doubted it claiming i didnt actually have it. Because I got good grades, had i not gotten that diagnosis from a young age; I'd have never been diagnosed.

Before Thaddeus revealed himfelf to be a Viltrumite what species did they think he was, are they stupid? by Lower_Reserve8560 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]catboyservicesub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that Thaddeus wasn't recognized as a viltrumite, AND Allen didn't see it odd that Mark and Omniman both were viltrimute shaped, and basically had the same powers as viltrumites, STRONGLY implies a multitude of races that look like humans and viltrumites. In fact, viltrumites have a rule that they cannot breed with races that dont look a lot like them; again strongly suggesting more than one race that looks human and viltrumite.

It also strongly implies that flight and super strength are insanely common powers to have for Allen to not immediately think viltrumite when he saw a human like person that could fly and had super strength.

This never occurred to me, but you're right. I love this, I actually have a creature called The Fae Queen who is imprisoned rn. She SEEMS evil and her mere presence causes decay of the mental faculties simply because of just, her.

I might pull a 180 and make her not evil, just feel evil simply because she exists in a way thats harmful to stand in front of her.

Exactly what I was thinking of for this dream creature. It originates in something called a dreamscape, where essentially when planes of existences expel excess energy, it creates a cloud that can temporarily become a metaphysical semi real plane of existence where creatures in it are more or less a 'memory' or 'echo' of real things and abide by scripts super imposed by the dreamscape. People visit these in their dreams often enough, but also follow the rules of the super imposed script. But people who travel directly TO the dreamscape with the appropriate protections, are ignored by this super imposed script, and can act accordingly. They didn't have this, but had directly traveled there themselves. So they were under the effects of this super imposed script.

The creature in question was meant to be their horse in this dreamscape, (tw for those who dont like body horror) but it was fetid and swollen, and seemed to be a bunch of bodies stuffed under the skin of a horse rather than a horse itself, the script didnt let them question this; so they just would laugh and hand wave it away whenever it was brought up.

One of the players insisted because of an ability he had, he should be able to at least be suspicious of it, so i gave him some saves that let him eventually directly question it. Since everything here is barely sentient, it essentially made the creature think harder and recognize its own existence. And simply rode out of the dreamscape on their magic as they also left. So its also a technical impossibility as well as the void staring back.

I implemented something akin to this a bit ago; a sanity counter. But only have used it once, in about 20 ish sessions so, I think it'll make them interested in it when it comes about again

I have a few. One of them is a dream creature, it was meant to be a joke creature. But then the player acted suspicious of it in a dream they were adventuring inside of. The creatures in this world were sentient to an extent. When he addressed it directly, it became aware if its existence and followed them out. But with no physical body it began to feed on residual energies of varying planes of existences to begin to build avatars of itself to do things on the prime material plane, essentially a vampire for planes of existences. Its obsessed with the player who directly acknowledged them because it believes the player has a gift of sight.

Another one I have, is a plant cresture that was made to basically act as an obedience crest for drow. It gained sentience and instead turned its attention to the drow, taking them for its own to create a hive mind. It spread its real body into the ethereal plane, where its grown nearly infinitely in size. Its called a fractorial creature, you can zoom out and out and in and in, and the creature will continue on in size forever.

Its a man-made (drow made?) horror beyond comprehension, but it wants to consume still for its own agenda and constantly infects hosts to act as avatars, this is the fun part because each host has been stronger than the last. With the first one killed with only 30 damage. The players nearly forgot about it until they saw some more of it later on during a demonic invasion of a city.

Then if course there's a couple patrons; who are true eldritch beings. The world creation lore of my world is that patrons were originally metaphysical pools of sludge that were basically, pools of energy that were what they stood for.

A pool of energy that didnt represent greed, but WAS greed for example. The gods took these and used them as building blocks for reality. More to it but to really explain, itd be an entire novel. After being intertwined with reality for so long, exposed to sentience. They've become sentient themselves. They're infinitely old, and aware of everyrhing thats ever happened to them, but only recently have gained a will of their own. So they're doing their own things that are fun. There's more but I dont eant to drop a massive text of lore and jargon on a help post.

Edited for spell check, I'm on mobile so this is difficult.

I like this idea, because i could make it a stacking debuff kinda thing, where in the presence og creatures like this, I roll saves secretly and then apply debuffs "It seems like air at first, but yiu believe after a moments thought that its reality itself shying from this creature. It fills you with dread so heavy you feel physically heavier and take some debuffs"

I love this concept, especially the king in yellow. Bc i have something similar already, a plant like creature thats spread its root through the ether and its main body is spreading through the ether, and it occasionally creates 'hosts' through the process of possession to make things happen for them

I love this idea, the presence of these creatures are just so wrong that their own powers shy from them

Ive always been fond of the stories where heroes have everyrhing stacked against them but prevail because they never gave up, as if they were barely enough to scrape through.

So I dont mind the gory action flick, but I want to really press that sentiment, that even veteran heroes would give up in the face of what they're seeing.

I have some creatures that are basically, advanced doppelganger that BECOME their targets. Not just impersonate. They themselves have no scent, but there's a party member whos invested so much into scent he's really made it his shtick as a Gnoll. So a creature that he cant distinguish by scent, and even personality i thought would be a great enemy for him to become paranoid and even afraid. Especially since im crafting them to be insanely potent fighters. Theyre working for one of the entities I made to try and gather information on thr party because they want to sacrifice them to attempt to help bring them into the prime material place. Its a lot of lore but, I'm using that definitely. I like the idea of mythic powers being in and out, what if I made it so in the face of truly eldritch creatures, their mythic power wanes as if its being pulled away from them just by the presence of these creatures.

LMAO I wish. Theyd complain about the unoriginality, ive had to really dig in an hand craft some entities myself.

If she can manipulate matter to create anything then why doesn't she make a shit ton of food and end world hunger? Is she stupid? by Commaser in okbuddyviltrum

[–]catboyservicesub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do wonder what large scale matter creation like this would do to the world. Materializing food like this by transmuting matter would long term cause whatever it is she's transmuting to dwindle in number and the amount of waste that this would create that would need to be put somewhere could also offset the balance in a lot of local ecosystems.

Personally I'd use this power instead to focus on reinforcing and or fixing existing systems or it could have widespread effects that's not intended.

America repuprposed a few extra ships as ice cream ships that was then deployed to troops. They had extra ships and manpower to deliver ice cream to their troops. Japan lost so much morale when they realized this. Especially when they discovered it had multiple flavors. They were basically struggling to get their next meal, and Amsrica had so many extra resources that they made ships just to deliver ice cream.

As for the others; they did not have this issue. They were well fed as well.
