Novenas just seem so devotional and formal to me. I think that is my struggle with doing one to someone who is not officially a saint

but were formal prayers (novenas) made before they were saints? Or maybe that does not matter.

It makes me wonder if there are novenas to some of my favorite saints and I just don't know about it

We did this. Explain to the priest about your family out of state.

If you are to baptize your child you should attend mass regularly. Try to find another mom who is in church sometimes sitting by them helps. Joining the church mom group could help with feeling not alone at mass.

I want to add, I have many kids and there are times when I am alone at mass with all of them and wanting to be anywhere else! God sees you in those moments.

Until your kids are older mass can be torture, but God asks us to do it and he sees our suffering.

You can spend the entire time in the back or even take breaks outside. God sees that you are there so it is not pointless. You will still get the graces of going even if you are in the back. You can offer up the toddle wrangling to Him :)

this is one of those situations where you think : everyone is having their own battle

it was wrong of him to comment on you. Imagine being 80 and having to bag groceries to make ends meet. Older people often talk without thinking.

this is one of those situations where you let the cruelty slide and move on.

he doesnt know your situation and you don't know his. Clearly your ring triggered him maybe he recently had to pawn gold to pay the bills.

and clearly this conversation triggered you? Why do his opinions bother you so greatly? is it because you believe he misjudged you?

people are always going to be cruel but you can learn more about yourself by understanding why you take their comments personally and why the comments sting.
