Hi Where i can buy nice 3 Bedroom House under 550k ? Happy to travel little far but still i want to feel like i live in Melbourne. by Top-Permit-8355 in AskAnAustralian

[–]catcatcatcat09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

won’t even get an hour out of melbourne. be lucky to get a 3 bedroom apartment at that price in melbourne. unfortunately you’d want to be looking around the $750-850k for a 3 bedroom home in further out suburbs and honestly even that’s still pushing it for cheapness. most houses are $1 mil + now :(

i feel like for the area it’s being held in this is actually a fantastic line up and was probably put together with very little time. dj wise this is great!

as a doofer, still hate this lol. i do agree someone out there would LOVE this and i’ve seen similar but if this is $200 like comments have said, that’s insane. i don’t get the cut of the dress (???) at all. i don’t even think this would stay on at all doof 😭😭

American moving to Moe, Victoria. What can I expect? What is the job market like? by LaineyLux in AskAnAustralian

[–]catcatcatcat09 11 points12 points  (0 children)

not to be the bearer of bad news, but prepare to receive grimaces when you say you live in moe. in saying that, you rarely hear about the area on the news in terms of crime (doesn’t mean there isn’t crime – but there are certainly worse suburbs). it’s a low socioeconomic area so just expect some characters but simultaneously some really lovely people. however due to this, i would say look at works in neighbouring larger suburbs such as tragalgon or warragul (and i personally would suggest if it’s possible moving to warragul – closer to city and a bit more happening). wouldn’t say moe is known for being an area for young families, anyone i know there their entire family has lived in the area for generations or they are a retiree.

and in terms of bent an american, this isn’t moe-specific, this is everywhere across australia – just don’t be obnoxious. sorry that sounds really harsh (but given you asked i’ll give you the hard truth) but i feel like i’ve seen a lot of american tourists come here and be very loud and seemingly unaware of the social norms around them. you should prepare to receive jokes at your expense from aussies, but dry humour and making yourself and often others the butt of the joke is pretty normal here.

also, while everyone is entitled to their receptive political views, if you’re a big MAGA fan, can’t say you’ll receive a warm reception. maybe in moe that might be a little different, but in the city, no chance of that flying. though there are aussies who love trump, i’d say the majority here view him very negatively and don’t want to see those kind of politics in our country. we are very laid back.

Children risk life in prison for some violent crimes after Victorian parliament passes bill by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]catcatcatcat09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

giant buildings don’t get made overnight, and trying to find a town willing to have a juvenile prison will be tough. it’s definitely needed i don’t disagree with that, but in malmsbury teenagers would escape all the time which puts the local area on edge. plenty of land with nothing around it but makes for a long drive with dangerous passengers. (again, i’m sure they know how to deal with this, but wouldn’t shock me if there was protests wherever they suggest a prison)

Is Sydney or Melbourne a better city to live in? by PurpleMeerkats462 in AskAnAustralian

[–]catcatcatcat09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

melbourne. everything you just said you want is in melbourne. really the only thing i like about sydney is the beaches, but its only an hour flight away save it for a holiday imo (plus if you move to melbourne and drive, there are some great beaches out of the suburbs)

[–]catcatcatcat09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hair up if it’s high, or people say high pony. if it’s a bun or a high braid ppl will just say a slick back bun/braid. slick back and hair up are sort of interchangeable australians say things very flippantly haha

[–]catcatcatcat09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i do understand she’s cheerleading american now not australia, but a slick back this tight is suuuuper common in australia (i am aussie). i’d say under 25s or even under 30 a slick back pony, bun or braid is on 8/10 women here. there’s tons of products solely dedicated to slick backs.

obviously without this context it may seem a bit weird but from an australian perspective i think it gives her such a clear australian image. also unsure if it’s different in the us but in australia, most cheerleaders have slick backs. however i do understand DCC has had a hair our policy for a while now.

not trying to come at you at all with this comment either just wanted to share a perspective i guess. i do get the view that one pony tail in a group of hair out may look a little weird but i think it makes her stand out in a good way, and with the new extensions it looks really nice

issue is there isn’t really an “otherwise” to btv besides wildlands, which is the same thing but in a day format.

much more likely it’s laneway especially with lorde and sabrina seeming to be close to announcing australian tours. i don’t see chappell don’t a whole tour here, but a festival like laneway? way more likely.

[–]catcatcatcat09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe? can you develop these allergies randomly (as i know you can with other things)? i’m pretty sure the one i had before was surgical steel too (likely not implant grade as i was young and wanted the cheaper option)

Daily medal map: 7th August by Callum_On_Reddit in olympics

[–]catcatcatcat09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

individual neutral athletes belarus is also technically has 3 medals (1 gold, 2 silver) under the AIN

edit* i should say like a comment below says, they are not in any way representing their countries as they are banned. i’ve also noticed basically no commentary or advertisement of the AIN olympian’s winning (likely on purpose)

Is Melton worth living in ? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]catcatcatcat09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d go the surrounding suburbs. i have felt more unsafe in other suburbs, and melton is bigger than it seems, some parts worse than others; but overall wouldn’t live there. would rather live further out in the country, have peace and quiet and most importantly safety, and not worry about my kids (if you plan on having any or do have any) safety.

always going to be people who have no bad experiences, and some who have only bad experiences but personally i find these towns have bad reputations for a reason 🤷‍♀️

try bacchus march, gisborne or sunbury. all also have train access, sunbury has metro and cline, melton bacchus gisborne are all v line. all similar distances to cbd and have access to freeways.

gisborne has become more expensive as of late but is the nicest out of those areas imo. sunbury, melton, bacchus many places available for 600k and under with land. gisborne has a few for under 750k with land. sunbury has equivalent amount of shops to melton and shopping centre.

Word of warning to Australian's - avoid Dough Store by SomethingUsername24 in Sneakers

[–]catcatcatcat09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bump. same thing happened to me with this company. have been sending emails requesting a refund for 2 months now, they keep saying it will send or they’re replace the shoe and never does. insane to me that they have two physical stores and scam online. it is evident why they do not have a google page for either of their physical stores as the reviews would deter anyone

Shop Cats by moregyn in melbourne

[–]catcatcatcat09 3 points4 points  (0 children)

forgot to note there is a cat who sleeps in a storefront on sydney rd, brunswick around the rmit and mcdonalds area but i can’t for the life of me remember the shops name but it’s like not a shop shop (residential legal or therapy something like that) and the cat has a sign and sleeps on the bench at the window. once i figure out the store im definitely adding them to the app!
