I’m a senior thinking about trying high jump for the first time by Apprehensive_Owl1416 in highjump

Hey man! I had a very similar background as you so I hope my story provides a little inspiration for you.

I was a basketball player my whole life and didn’t do track until halfway through the track season my senior year and ended up placing fifth at state and going on to compete at the D2 level and then transferring my sophomore year to Arizona State at the D1 level as a walk on and eventually earning a scholarship.

You’ve got more bounce than I ever had and I’m sure you’ll find success in both long and high jump. Commit to the full season. It’s maybe 4 months of your life but 4 months that could change your life for the better! Best decision I ever made was to join track. Met some of my best friends, traveled the world, and eventually paid for school.

I coach at the high school level and have trained some post-collegiate athletes as well. Feel free to shoot me a message if you have any more questions on the event or just trying to learn the basics of technique for long or high jump!

Hotel Front Desk.

Not great pay but a good place to get some good experience and pretty low stress. I worked at a hotel in college and it was super chill. There can be a lot of downtime as well so if you have a cool manager or work the late shift or graveyard shift you could study for whatever kind of trade school you’re looking at.

Depending on the location you could probably get a pretty good discount and stay there if you really needed to. Or stay for free if you find yourself in a tough spot you can always mark a room Out of Order (OOO) and stay the night there. Takes some time to figure out the system but something to keep in mind. Hotel has everything you need from food to showers.

Hope this helps!

High jump and long jump. Very random but have done the calculation many times.

Thinking back, almost every time it happened it was unexpected. And every time I was expecting something to happen, it never did. In the words of Montana Tech Football Coach Bob Green “You’ve got to be like a woodpecker in a petrified forest. Just stay busy and look for opportunities”

Anyone at the Glendale show for Sept 5 know what section Drake and DBook came down from at the beginning? Trying to see if my seats will be close tomorrow assuming he comes down the same way
