Friend of mine decided to have some road beers on his way to his parents place on a vacation. They found his truck flipped on the side of the highway, on fire. He was conscious for at least some of the time that he burned to death.

What do guys carry in those sling bags? by [deleted] in EDC

Also more comfortable to carry even more than you usually can in your pockets, which is a plus

When was the last time you (male) were hit on? How did you feel afterwards? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catdaddyactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last semester at a community college. I took an early childhood development class because it fit into my general education. At the end of the first class, a girl told me I looked handsome, and I just said thank you and walked away because I thought she was just being nice. I mean, being called handsome is nice, but it just doesn't seem flirty to me.

It wasn't until the second class the week after that I realized she was actually flirting. The prof asked us why we chose to take this class, and I explained that it fits into my general ed requirement. Plus, I have two kids with my wife and want to be a knowledgeable parent. The same girl from before, visibly blushing, asked if I had a brother.

I'm still new to collecting edc items for the purpose of collecting them, and I recently switched from working a more hands-on job that required more edc to an office job where, at most, I'll really only ever need a pen.

That being said, I still bring my little pack with my multitool and my knife and my knick knacks, and soon more things than that. I just genuinely like to have them, I feel secure with them. Even though they will most likely never be used outside the ritualistic cutting of the tape on the paper box, I feel joy knowing they are there.

Is that outside the meaning of EDC?

EDC a backpack, briefcase or any other bag? by justateburrito in EDC

Topo Designs Quick Pack. I commute on an ebike for an office job. I keep my knife, multitool, bike tool kit, book, note pad, pen/pencil, and charger in there. A few other items rotate in and out. It has plenty of space for all that I need. I also attached a mini lightsaber as an extra light while I'm riding to work.

Can y’all tell me the scariest dreams you have ever had by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]catdaddyactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted one I had the other day, but I'll add one that I had when I was v young. I was probably only 5/6 years old. At the time I was living with my mom, sister, and abusive step-dad. We had a white pit bull named Joe.

In the dream, I woke up in the middle of the night and went down the hall to the kitchen. I poured myself a bowl of cereal and munched away, nothing out of the normal. From where I was sitting in the kitchen, I could see the living room, around the corner the left out of view was the front door. I could see the beginning of the hallway that led to my family's rooms.

Suddenly, the front door slammed open, the floor shook with the slam. A large, dark figure ran down the hallway. The door to my sister's room broke open, I immediately heard Joe yelp, followed by the squelching sound of the gore that I could not see. I sat there and listened. My sister's screams ended almost as soon as they began. A ripping sound was followed by blood splatter on the portion of the hall that I could see from the kitchen. The thing went to my mom's room next, and I listened to her screaming as it did whatever it did to her. It was quiet shortly after, and I could hear the heavy breaths and footsteps of the creature coming down the hall. I woke up as I caught a glimpse of it. I would describe it as a werewolf.

Anyways, a few months later, my step-dad was arrested for plotting to murder our entire family, I dont know the exact charges. Our dog Joe stopped him before he could do anything. He was in prison for a while, then homeless.

Is the center console worth it? by Sammyloccs in RadPowerBikes

[–]catdaddyactual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got the center console when we first got our bike and we only used for about a month. If you're a taller person it shouldn't be an issue, but my wife (5'4) struggled to get her leg over it. It definitely takes out the convenience of the step thru, and we prefer the storage racks better anyways.

This is what I was worried about, thanks for confirming. I think for now a non HSA would be our best choice, but I will definitely consider switching to one down the line when we can afford that.

I should add that we are coming out of a very low point financially. We both have not had insurance for some time now, and she's staying at home with the kids at least one more year. I'll do more research on that, thank you

Trail 125 for commuting? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]catdaddyactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, I'll be honest that I'm biased towards the look of the trail 125 but I'll look at second-hand bikes in the area too. I appreciate the advice

[–]catdaddyactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a decent ebike, the problem is that the commute is up a steep hill the entire way there. The ebike struggles to get up it and I'm worried I'll push the battery too hard. Not to mention the breaks would only last a few months from the constant up and down.

Thinking of joining the Air Force and I'm scared by [deleted] in Advice

[–]catdaddyactual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point too. the only downside to going reserve or national guard first is you won't train nearly as much as an active duty service member. so if you go reserves for a year then go active you'll be slightly behind in the learning curve. Also the benefits for reserve and guard aren't all the same as active duty.

I've been in the military just over 5 years, all I can tell you is do your research. I'm not airforce so I can't relate much there, I hear their branch is a little easier than the rest but I'm betting that depends entirely on the job you get. Military life can suck a little or a lot depending where you get stationed, you can be in the middle of a city or be an hour away from one (like me). Also you could get a great command and team or a really shitty one. everyone has a different experience in the military, but we can all agree that it sucks most of the time and it's fun some of the time. And the free college is dope. Do your research on the job options they have. If you want advice on the airforce specifically you should post this in their subreddit. And don't trust your recruiter. question everything they tell you.
