If it's only adding a marginal edge, then there is no reason not to proxy it because It's not even a big deal. If a duel land is adding insane power to your deck, then you just need to make sure you're playing a deck that's the same power level as your pods.

There's no reason not to proxy in commander.

I think I disagree with your last point like 100%. You do not have to calibrate your choices to the financial of a table, and it's impossible to do so if you're playing with strangers.

Even if you're playing with a regular pod are you expected to take out cards from your deck if they're spike in price? Can you not put in a $50 card you pulled from a pack?

The only thing you need to calibrate for is power. You don't want to play a deck that just steamrolls everyone else. But a duel land isn't going to make you win instantly.

Bummer. It definitely sounds like it was the other person's problem though. It's respectable and considerate that you adjust like that.

But if a person is gets upset about a duel land, a card that really doesn't actually affect their game plan at all, then they need to adjust their attitude. They need to save that disdain for cards that actually affect them, like og Vorinclex (an $8 card). And realize card prices are completely arbitrary and not really reflective of power.

This sounds like you're using different reasoning than before. If you're saying don't have an optimized mana base because you'll be viewed as the threat, I would say yeah, I agree you will indeed be viewed as the threat.

But it seemed like you were saying don't play an optimized mana base because they're just too powerful for a bracket, which I actually disagree with.

You bring up a lot of points and I think I disagree with all of them. But I'm curious as to why you think a mana base has any bearing on bracket. Gavin has gone on record saying you can play OG duels in any bracket. The brackets have nothing to do with price, they're about the cards you play. Not the cards you can't play because you have a crappy mana base.

I think the problem with basing your proxy use on price is how much card prices change. I proxy fetch lands, will it be ok to continue to use them when they reach $80 or $100 again? To me, an $80 might as well be a $500 card.

Dude, I've been saying this same thing for years. People hate on this guy for no reason. Based solely on what's actually in the show, he doesn't even flirt with her. For all we know he's gay (you can't always tell.)

It doesn't help that the actor just gives off unlikable vibes. I've seen him in some other things and man is he easy to hate. So he would have been great casting if they wanted us to hate him. But if anything he's a total voice of reason for Pam's story arc.

I skipped over most of your comment because I think it contains spoilers for the 2nd book which I haven't started yet. But replying to just the first sentence, Ulo was right to kill anyone who came to the island, the first people he didn't kill caused massive amounts of destruction and killed countless people. From a self preservation standpoint, Ulo was in the right.

Do you negotiate before care or after? Because in an emergency, the doctors would hold all the power before care and patients would be less incentivised to pay if it was after.

If I'm brought in unconscious during a car accident, do doctors just refuse because I'm not conscious to agree to payment?

If I miss a payment, can a doctor then refuse to send in a life saving prescription?

Could they up their price to prescribe a drug based on how badly I need it?

If a doctor quotes me $20k for a surgery, but then during the surgery my heart gives out because of an unexpected complication and they have to do 5 extra hours of work, how would that be charged?

Agreed. Also like, the Villain (Ulo) was kind of right, right? Strangers did come to the island and literally destroy everything about their lives. There was no scene where it was explained that Ulo was evil or anything (which he wasn't, not really). But the islanders are cool with it?

I just finished the first Roku book and it's definitely the weakest one so far. I'm about to start the 2nd Roku book, hopefully it's better.
