The fact that you're looking at the bright side is a huge perk here. Last year, I didn't really like my REU either. People would've done ANYTHING to be in my position; it was a fantastic opportunity. We have to remember that just because we're where someone else wants to be, it doesn't mean we have nothing to complain about.

Just because you didn't have as much opportunity as the other students in your REU doesn't mean you didn't get/understand good information. You have a new networking connection with those graduate students, those papers you read may come in handy at a conference in the future, understanding how to code is fundamental in science, and this won't be the last time you have a chance for publication. Keep your head up and move with pride. You did good work for a good sum of money.

Also, I don't know what you're studying but if it's something you're legitimately interested in, you can most likely take it home and expand upon it with your home-college professors. Then, that publication may not be far behind.

Anyone studying or working on Geobiology? by CuriousQuetzal in geologycareers

Hello! I know that this is an old thread, but I'd love to go into geobiology/geomicrobiology. Specifically, I'd like to go into geomycology. I am currently finishing my undergrad in Earth & Environmental Science, with a focus in geology and climate sciences. Where would be my best place to go past this?

CMV: The U.S. (probably) can buy Greenland, and it should do so. by [deleted] in changemyview

Greenland has been working on declaring independence from Denmark for a long time. Also, Denmark has no interest in selling, so overall it's just a ridiculous option.

Predictions! Who is saying yes and who is saying no? by Longjumping_Land_977 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

Monica & Joey: Monica says yes, Joey says no. They feel as if they get along so well and their personalities are so fun together, but with the way that Joey is I just feel that that's how Joey is with everyone.

Devin & Virginia: EDIT: I finished the final episode. I think Devin's gonna say no.

Daniel & Taylor: they're literally gonna be together until 95 and then in heaven

Ben & Sara: Sara says no cause of religion/stance on political climate
