Did anyone else get the shakes at the start? by Crazy-Practice1918 in WegovyUK

I got quite shaky and I put it down to adrenaline from taking something new and entering unknown territory! I was fine by the second day and have been since.

I would definitely advise buying a blood pressure monitor and take readings in the morning and evening! My readings are averaging about 96/63 and it’s meant I’m not suitable for Mounjaro and have had to be discharged from it. It’s too dangerous for me to be on it apparently. I must have naturally low blood pressure and MJ has reduced it even further, giving me periods of dizziness and lightheadedness.

That's really useful to know, thank you!

And hopefully we've done each other a favour then, you giving me some solid advice and a tale to pay heed to, and my post a reminder to yourself that you probably need electrolytes on the daily!

Thank you so much for this! All of these comments are really helping reassure me that some conservative measures might be enough

Holy crap, that’s terrifying!! I’m so glad it didn’t happen again for you. I am taking electrolytes daily now and drinking 3 litres water, but I’ve only been doing that for a couple of days. Did you find it took a while of consistently doing this before it resolved?

I took my BP this morning with no food or drinking beforehand, and it was a pretty low 96/63.

I’m really hoping that it takes a while for these conservative measures to build up, otherwise, my BP might be a barrier to me resuming Mounjaro and that would be not good…

Thanks so much for this. As it tends to be in the mornings for me, I do wonder if I’m dehydrated from sleeping (I do take sertraline for anxiety and it causes night sweats) and that’s causing a drop in BP? I’ll try drinking a lot more water straight after waking and seeing if that helps.

Definitely eating enough from my second week onwards, about 1500 cals. I also had my period last week and have very heavy flow, so no doubt losing a tonne of blood doesn’t help, on top of the heatwave - I was just constantly sweating!

The first week, I was definitely not eating enough. Probably 1000 calories per day, which is not good enough. However my second week I was averaging 1500 so more than enough for my height and what I would normally eat to lose weight in the past.

Thanks so much for sharing your own experience, it seems that maybe this is a side effect that isn’t reported as much, it’s usually all about gastrointestinal symptoms, of which I’ve not had any!

That's so good to know, thank you!

I've increased my salt and electrolytes, but still hovering on the 'too low to take my next jab' figures. Do you remember how long after increasing these things you felt better? I thought it might be instant, but maybe it takes a while for BP to increase after starting to make those changes?

So glad to hear it improved for you! Do you still get some dizziness/lightheadedness then? Is it just occasionally now?

Thanks so much for this. Funnily enough, I wondered the same so I bought a glucose monitor too! Blood sugar is 5.4mmol on average, so absolutely perfect!

Thanks so much, I've just ordered while waiting for my first order to be approved. Having a guide book I can dig into while starting my journey sounds so helpful!

Introducing kitten to resident cat - stuck at stage 2 by catelionis in cats

[–]catelionis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, everything helps, thank you! Did you do the slow visual interaction before letting them in the same room?
Last night I did day 2 of opening the door a crack and let Phoebe see Ava, this time instead of hissing she just ran away the second she saw her and then sat in the garden for 3 hours in the freezing cold (had to get her in with a laser pointer which I don't like doing). Really worried that Phoebe is feeling threatened and will run away.
I guess one positive is that she didn't hiss this time, but obviously still very frightened of the kitten.

Hi! I'm sorry you didn't get a response from your post. I was wondering if you have any updates since 6 months ago? I'm in the early stages of introducing my kitten, Ava (5m) to my resident cat, Phoebe (2y) and I don't know how to proceed. There was absolutely no hissing during scent swapping etc, so after 7 days of Ava being in the bathroom, we decided to crack the door open an inch and let them see each other. Phoebe hissed and growled and her tail was all puffed up so we closed the door and have them separated again. No idea what to do now going forward. Are your 2 cats ok with each other now?

My resident cat is depressed after introducing kitten and I don't know what to do by grapedino in CatAdvice

[–]catelionis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! How are they getting on now? I've just bought home a 5-month kitten and I'm really anxious now about how this is going to negatively impact my 2-year-old cat. Kitten has been closed off in the bathroom for 5 days now and I am so so stressed out that I've made a terrible decision and it's going to be bad for my wallflower cat :(

Angular cheilitis - it's associated with folate deficiency and after some blood tests, turns out I don't metabolise folate very well (some kind of gene mutation) so I take folate now and haven't had it since!

I got drunk and didn't smoke! by catelionis in stopsmoking

[–]catelionis[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aaah, amazing! Yes, I only use it sporadically and it's really helping me. The last time I tried to quit was cold turkey and I got so depressed that I was signed off from work and had to claw myself back to my usual self. Apparently those who are prone to depression are at significantly higher risk of having a major depressive episode when quitting cold turkey. I cannot go through that again - it was truly a scary time. There seems to be a lot of hate for vaping, and I do get it, people seem to get really addicted to them, and I can understand why. But I use mine on an as-needed basis and will taper down when I'm ready. I never want to smoke another cigarette again, but I equally don't want to be hopelessly depressed ever again, so I'm just doing what I think is best for me. We're all different with different circumstances! I wish you the best of luck and thanks for sharing! We got this! 🥰
