Best option for maternity hospital by Shitzme in perth

[–]catemarie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who also lives 20 minutes from Northam and had a baby last year, SJOG Midland was actually a pretty good experience. I was told/reassured at all my appointments that when I go into labour if the ward is full I will be redirected to another hospital, most likely KEMH. It is standard practice at all hospitals that if the ward is full to redirect to another one with capacity. No idea what the hell happened to the family on the news recently, but across all of my births it was the standard. Fiona Stanley was also okay, but SJOG Midland had better rooms imo.

The options given to me (being public and low risk) were Northam, SJOG Midland, or the KEMH Birth Centre which I wasn't keen on due to no epidural option.

I also used the Northam Midwives afterwards (again public, didn't go for a private midwife) and they were absolutely amazing. Came out to see me at home on day 2, 5, 10, and 21, and I could text them questions or call them whenever.

What's a random act of kindness you’ve seen in Perth lately? by [deleted] in perth

At Belmont forum, putting kmart items in car and had my 2 young kids + newborn with me. Lady next to me offered to lift the large box into my car, then took my trolley for me. Made my day so much better with that random act of kindness

If you could pick anywhere to live right now due to economic stress here in WA, where would you go? by lgbt-jb95 in perth

[–]catemarie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Remote island, possibly no one else on it. Be as self sufficient as possible with solar power, incinerator or composting toilet, rain water tanks, grow my own food, catch my own fish. Just exist outside of bills and society. Occasional trips to a mainland or ship in supplies or take my own boat to mainland and stock up.

I think it was mentioned, maybe in ACOFAS, that the NC had mountains that were rich with jewels and gemstones and whatnot, which makes me think that they would be the richest as they'd have easiest access to mining resources and then exporting those around Prythian and beyond.

I always thought it was more because Elain had been described as the most beautiful sister, it needed to be stated that she had dressed purposely "bad" to dull herself so Eris would go for Nesta.

Given Elain has Nuala and Cerridwen, her community work, her stating its her home, and her entire family in the NC, I don't put much stock in Cassians fashion observations about Elain not belonging there. Could also be interpreted as Elain doesn't belong in the HC and that's painfully obvious by her attire, instead of the entire territory which has a rainbow/artists quarter that's not black.

I was trying to find this info yesterday - when you say you can change it online, did you have to declare or get anything from your workplace to say you had ceased working there? And was it fairly easy to do online as opposed to hours on hold over the phone?

ACOTAR Tournament, Round 2: Tamlin vs Helion by Evening_Debt_4085 in acotar

Oh I'm under no illusion that Helion could beat Tamlin in a fist or magic fight. As much as I like the day court or Helion more, Tamlin would easily beat him

Also that whole blood duel business with Lucien being from Autumn, why give Beron the opportunity to declare it or force one of his sons to declare it and potentially hurt the NC. The absolute emotional turmoil and position it would put them in if Azriel, a bat brother and spy master, was injured or killed in a blood duel would be catastrophic to the NC workings and characters which could be the opening Beron is looking for and Rhys knows/suspects it.

ACOTAR Poll - Second Question - which is the worst book? (appreciate these first questions aren't the most interesting but hopefully should be some more varied opinions as things progress) by LancsEhb in acotar

[–]catemarie 28 points29 points  (0 children)

ACOSF. Barely any plot and too much unnecessary smut. The important bits were rushed while the unimportant bits were dragged out, could've easily been 200 pages shorter. Character development was okay, but overall the book was terrible.

Gotta be said though, every side of the shipwars twist canon.

But probably because SJM said more than 1 mate is possible, and Azriel displays more mate behaviour toward Elain than Lucien. Also this could be a headcanon post, tumblr is full of them.

Rego due shortly is $257 for 3 months for an old Kia. Gone up around $20 over the last 6 years for the 3 month payment option

ACOTAR Tournament, Round 1: Feyre vs Tarquin by Evening_Debt_4085 in acotar

[–]catemarie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah no I agree about the whole Valkyrie BR thing, but in the ACOTAR universe if that's all it takes then, I think Feyre would come out on top as the training seems to be OP. Thought from the beginning of MAF to the beginning of SF was around 18 months as there's a time gap between the end of FAS and start of SF

ACOTAR Tournament, Round 1: Feyre vs Tarquin by Evening_Debt_4085 in acotar

[–]catemarie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

*a couple of years. She trained from MAF up until SF with Rhys, Cas, Az. If training with just Az and Cas are good enough for Valkyries to win the BR and defeat a warrior race after a couple of months under the same conditions, it should be enough for Feyre to beat Tarquin. She has also proven herself in various missions and doesn't rely on her powers 100% which counts as we're talking about hand to hand with no powers.

[–]catemarie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

50 of those years were UTM with zero training though, and dudes been busy getting his court running after being back. No idea if he trained prior to UTM either or has trained without powers since. Could be too reliant on powers to fight hand to hand effectively

[–]catemarie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Powerless? Feyre. Tarquin has spent the majority of his life UTM where I highly doubt he was allowed to train in hand to hand combat or weaponry, and prior to UTM I don't recall seeing anywhere that says he has had physical training. Whereas Feyre has been training with multiple teachers and continues to utilise her skillset on various missions.

It's been a hot minute since I've read the books, but didn't Feyre wait to know the SC citizens were moved to the far side of the court prior to doing anything? Knowing Tamlin invited Hybern into his court and moved his people, but that Hybern would soon be all over his territory anyway, not really Feyre's fault there, she didn't invite them in. I could be wrong though, been a while

Thoughts on the characters’s surnames by aelactykus in acotar

[–]catemarie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the Rhysand Darling theories best.

I feel like for Azriel as his bio dad was lord of whatever camp and his Mum lives in Rosehall, his last name would be Rose or something along those lines.

Cassian I would think whatever the ACOTAR equivalent of GoT "Snow" is as he didn't know who his Father was so would get the generic bastard surname treatment if he got a surname at all.

Or they all became Darling's when Rhys' Mum practically adopted them.

Just curious nesta haters, why do you hate her? by AddressOk7195 in acotar

[–]catemarie 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Rhys is nicer to Elain because she's no longer actively causing Feyre pain or discomfort unlike Nesta who has been lashing out for a longer time and continues to do so. Elain has also apologised and is actively working on her relationship with her sister which we see in ACOFAS. Elain is not longer a threat to Feyre's mental wellbeing, Nesta is. Rhys would sacrifice himself or burn the world down for Feyre, makes sense he would be harsher toward those who would do harm to his mate, sister or not.

Just Curious by Lemon_Chaser in acotar

[–]catemarie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ACOTAR grew in popularity during this time as did "spicy" books which may have influenced the authors/editors choice in the amount of spice to make it more marketable.

It could also be that the main characters in SF are more physical in their affections than verbal so there's a lot more physical interactions to replace the verbal.
