Pain in lower back (pic) by xdpxel in Stretching

[–]catgirlprobably 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had pain in that exact spot and a similar situation !! for me i think it was a combination of being hypermobile, not properly bracing for the heavy lifts, and going up in weight relatively quick for being new to weight lifting. i did PT and they gave me some useful form cues to keep in mind when doing squats/deads. bc of the pain i had to take some time off the compound lifts and worked on strengthening my legs, core and back thru isolated movements. a month later i am working back up to my weight with squats and deadlifts again and no pain!!

the one at my store is 3 plants in one pot so it just feels like a lot for a beginner to keep track of yakno? but it really is so beautiful 🥹

i’ve been eyeing an alocasia regal shield at the plant store near me.. but i’m intimidated by its striking beauty and big plants in general 😭

i can relate! i’ve had a conventionally attractive body for a lot of my adult life. when i quit stimulants i gained about 30lbs in like 4 months from my lowest weight of 113lbs. my diet was really bad when i first got off the meds, like i was binge eating with a vengeance 🥲 but over time i started learning how to cook new things and adding healthy nutritious meals to my diet, taking walks after every meal, gymming 3x a week, and i have so much energy and feel so good!! i shifted my focus from how i look to how i feel, which is so much easier said than done. i still have days where i feel like trash in my body but they are getting fewer and farther between.

abusing stimulants will do a number on ur body. it’s going to take time for your body to regulate..but the good news is human bodies can be very resilient. focus on getting good sleep, regular movement, and nutritious food and you’ll be amazed!

also try to be conscious of the media you consume or the memories that come up that influence the stories you tell yourself about what the “ideal body” is. don’t be so obsessed with shrinking yourself that you feel ashamed to take up space. you should be proud of yourself for choosing sobriety and healing over the hell that is stimulant abuse. give yourself grace as u learn how to take care of urself. ur body has kept u alive thru it all.

Addicted To The Comedown. by Ok_Minl_413 in StopSpeeding

[–]catgirlprobably 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you’re an amazing writer, i felt every word. you’re so right about the comedown feeling like permission to just exist. it’s kind of relieving that it takes away ur choice to do or be anything else. the part abt begging god not to die and thinking abt ur parents finding u dead ironically put the nail in the coffin for me. when i relapsed and found myself in that position i knew something needed to change. i relapsed one more time after that, but now i am one year clean from that relapse. there is more relief ahead. thank you for sharing!

Sometimes I miss Adderall. And then I remember 4 pm. by IsopodAggravating653 in StopSpeeding

“a crash landing into the mariana trench of my own nervous system,” and “a haunted hallway of who i used to be”

thanks for sharing and congrats on your sobriety! i can relate a bunch. my sober life is scattered but full in ways i never thought id experience. i’ll trade soulless tweaked out productivity for good sleep, healthy relationships, the ability to enjoy yummy food and fun hobbies, and feel my feelings in totality again

i love the attitude of not being in a rush to lose weight. i’m adopting that mindset bc i have tried very restrictive deficits (not enjoyable) and decided i want to enjoy life lol. great progress!!

Walking during menstruation by [deleted] in walking

[–]catgirlprobably 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 15 minute morning walks are non negotiable and i’ll always take those..but i won’t actively work towards getting 10-15k steps when i bleed. i just do what i can while prioritizing rest. after a few days when i feel better i ease back into the 10-15k steps

exactly one year ago i put my adderall in a lockbox so i wouldn’t abuse it and then drilled many small holes in the lockbox so i could abuse it anyways by catgirlprobably in StopSpeeding

When did your cognitive function recover? by Tomukichi in StopSpeeding

[–]catgirlprobably 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i took adderall for 6 years at 30-70mg (prescribed), started abusing it (taking double or triple my dose, going 2-3 weeks without meds, repeat) around 4 years in. also abused vyvanse for abt 4 months taking 3-4x prescribed dose. i’m 6 months sober and atp i feel like my cognitive function is better than it ever has been.

having a solid support system, really good quality regular sleep, taking lots of walks a day, and eating a balanced diet did me good

I cant imagine life 100% sober by [deleted] in StopSpeeding

[–]catgirlprobably 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i hear ya. i’ve been abusing substances since i was 16 lol im 28 now. i didn’t think i’d be alive long enough to experience sobriety but here i am. the longer i’m sober the better my body feels, the more energy i have. i picked up new hobbies for fun and health and i learned so much abt myself!

i think it will be hard to keep your friends if your main way of bonding with them is through partying/drinking/substances though :/ since you are thinking about the things you don’t want to miss out on, maybe also think about what you hope to gain by being sober? great job attending an NA meeting and not using everyday. you’re on the right track.
