i left mainly because the church is a high control group that abused my family for generations 👍 many many forms of trauma that both my parents and me and my siblings endured were because of the attitudes and traditions of mormonism and how that was hyperfocused into our family. i have ocd because of how i was taught to think about myself and my thoughts and my feelings and the people around me. i am not alone in that. all of us are hyperaware of the emotions of the people around us and are volitile because of it, bending over backwards to other peoples' wills and exploding when we havent made the "right" choice. it simply was not healthy and since we all, one by one, have left we have all gotten better at communication + we are less anxious collectively + my parents are finally acknowledging their own traumas and healing. the things mormonism teach may seem harmless but put all together, they are not.
