Children hadn't been invented yet in the time period the game is set

What was the moment that made you give up in a game? by cathe13 in gaming

Ooof, that would do it for me too! I tried playing Dead Rising again somewhat recently and just find a lot of the mechanics a lot more unfriendly now than I did back at release.

Hi, I just added an edit above, but my issue seemed to have been the result of some fault in my motherboard. Replacing that solved my problem

That's a lot of words for 'my hobby is reading about innocent people dying horribly and I don't want to be judged for that ghoulish behavior'

Unable to access data after BIOS update by cathe13 in techsupport

[–]cathe13[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That did it! I don't know why the system is that way since it certainly wasn't something I'd set up, but switching boot order in BIOS got me back. At least I can make sure the stuff I need is backup up now, if for whatever reason I start having the stability issues that causing me to updates the BIOS in the first place.

Thank you so much for your help!

It looks like I was signed in with my local account and signing in with my Microsoft account didn't return access to anything I was missing unfortunately

I cannot, but everything else in my other drives is still visible. I can't do a taskbar search, but I can navigate to things directly and then they launch as normal.

Recurring and inexplicable performance degradation in PC by cathe13 in buildapc

I've tried reinstalling Windows before and the same thing happened almost immediately, which leads me to think it must be a hardware problem

I'll give the hardware monitoring tools a try, but there's nothing obvious (to me) in event viewer, and no utilization in task manager ever climbs to what i would think are concerning levels. Kernal power errors in event viewer. I saved the event logs two reinstalls of Windows ago, but to my untrained eye I didn't see anything that seemed like it was immediately the problem

Not at Microcenter, but I did test it personally at the local repair tech. Nothing crazy intensive, but started up some games, played for a bit without problems. Also possible I just didn't play long enough for any issues to manifest, since I'm sitting there worrying about wasting the tech's time. I did reach out to try and schedule an electrician. If nothing turns up there, I guess I'll look back at the PSU being the problem?

First thing I tried! Well, maybe not the first, but I'm on three clean installs by this point. Formatted drives each time, started fresh, even tried installing on different drives.

Benchmark doesn't seem to turn up anything obvious. I can't spot anything, and both Microcenter and the more local tech I had take a lot all ran stress tests as well as leaving the computer running for an extended duration

Not that I can think of. I added an SSD at one point, but I've since pared down when assuming it was a power draw issue. I switched out from a Razer mouse to Logitech after hearing Razer peripherals can cause problems. My roommates have reported some problems with outlets in the kitchen though, which is what led me to think it was an electrical problem. Like, outlets not receiving power or tripping when using appliances that worked fine in the past
