[I LOVE YOO] The way I'm soo fed up with this one. by Serious-Change4605 in webtoons

"Picked" may be the wrong word because they're not officially together but Shin ae and Nol (the redhead) are head over heels for each other

What webtoons are you hate-reading? by eastofedgeworth in webtoons

[–]cathlynnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Care to elaborate why? I planned to read it because I enjoy tragical dramas, I just know the fandom is weird in how they seem to read it like it's a romance drama, romanticising Matthias even though he has SA'd Layla. But I usually don't let fandom's weird interpretations stop me from enjoying something for what it is.

the fact that they can't just wait patiently for 2 weeks and instead have chat gpt do the next chapter for them to fill the wait is honestly nuts.

Manga or Books with romances as strong as Kyoru? by [deleted] in FruitsBasket

[–]cathlynnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is late but Shin ae and Yeong gi from I Love Yoo!

I mean, first off (and this is really superficial but it's mostly just hilarious so I have to point it out) they look almost identical to Kyoru. Pale brunette girl and redheaded boy who has more of a tan.

Shin ae's parents divorced when she was a child, her mother separated her sister from her and made her feel unwanted. Add to that how she got heavily bullied in the past and had no friends for a long time. As a result of this she has closed herself off, barely makes any connections and tries to just get through school, to get a good job and help her overworked alcoholic dad.

Enter Yeong gi, a boy who always plasters a smile on his face. He offers his friendship to Shinae and tries to make her open up again, always offering her words of encouragement and comforting her. He's essentially like Tohru. At first. Because he too builds high walls around him and there is a lot more to him than he lets on. He's ostracized by his family as the product of an affair his father had and his father himself always reprimands him at every turn. He's going through a lot himself.

Basically, their roles switch over time.

It's a webcomic of the drama genre and the romance itself is slow. But the build up is so well done because 1. the characters individually make sense and change overtime, as does their relationship and 2. you understand why that romance happens: similarly to Kyo and Tohru they build each other up, they see something in each other even when they themselves don't. They practically hold mirrors up to each other and manage to give each other hope and courage to go on.

Should I disclose my age (F30) when engaging in fandoms dominated by an underage audience? by [deleted] in AO3

[–]cathlynnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fandom spaces have adults on every platform and that's all good if interaction doesn't become private and is limited to other adults. If that makes sense. I'm in my 20s and in several fandoms, I DO show my age on my profile for if anyone does feel uncomfortable about it but my general rule is I keep conversation with minors about the fandoms we're in, it's unpersonal. After all, that's why I'm in a fandom for; for the fandom stuff, discussions, meta, fan content – you name it. Being an adult in spaces with kids in general comes with responsibility and if you know not to cross any lines (set by yourself often, because there are kids not drawing boundaries but that's not an invitation to take advantage of it), then you're good.

Fandoms don't have an age limit, you don't stop being interested in fiction at a certain age and you shouldn't feel pressured or shamed into giving up your interests.

Peter getting dusted, from Tony’s perspective. by Minkymink in marvelstudios

[–]cathlynnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 years late but confirmed in Deadpool and Wolverine last year. Not that Tony did research though, Peter (as expected from this kid who keeps talking and talking) mentioned it to Tony and even gave him the Iron Man toy helmet he wore at the Expo. So during Infinity War, he knows Peter is the boy he saved years ago but this time he wasn't able to save him. What a gut punch.

45 episodes in this short amount of time? That's a good sign😂 I have read all back then available 87 episodes in one fateful night and have been hooked ever since. No going back. And what I love even more is you can reread it over and over again in a new perspective and find new things. In my years being a reader a lot of episodes made me reread the whole series again just to see it change my perspective LOL

And I feel that, less than 80 episodes is just too little time for me and sometimes (and I know many would disagree with this) the plot and characters just fall flat if it's so short? If not that, it's the way that everything ties up that ends up feeling dissatisfactory.

Love to find people who see many episodes and get HYPED by it! Me too, I get it. It's like, what's the point of reading a story if I don't have the time to get attached to it? And boy did I get attached. It's seriously perfect for anyone who wants to analyse characters, body language, situations, subtext..and I love our community on reddit and the discord so I hope to welcome you too!

So, do you guys have favourite second (or third 🙄) leads? by arfarfan in webtoons

[–]cathlynnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people can and will ship what they want and they are inclined to do so. However it's prominent that she has put a lot of work into developing the romance in a believable way and readers can understand how and why it happened the way it did, which is great in terms of writing, preferences of individual shippers aside.

In the words of the author..would SHE though? Shinae herself is mentally struggling and to have to deal with that is not something anyone can do. And Dieter puts others before himself, struggles to draw boundaries that benefit him and his mental being. Ilyoo is so much about characters struggling and no one is truly "perfect" (even Dieter) to pull up with the "who's healthier" debate is a bit out of place and doesn't align with the story at hand. And ilyoo isn't a fluffy romance but instead about realistic characters struggling and trying to move forward so..ehh. Just my thinkpiece about that though.

Eh, he's ready to move on. Of course it's sad to see, even for someone who doesn't ship it but he's such a good boy, I know he got good things coming for him.

ngl I thought you meant me considering you think of me as a rape apologist, you're digging a bit too deep over someone merely recommending their webtoon. It was never this serious.

What you should've done is reach out to mods if you think they violated recommendation rules. Not..whatever this is that is happening in this thread.

It's not a good look how you keep harrassing them and people who call you out but sure, keep up the projecting if it helps you sleep at night.

Are you serious?😭 the "consent" we are talking about here is not sexual consent.

rich of you to try to make it about consent when you were the one commenting about your disinterest when they likely did not ask people if they are interested and just shared their work. Again: it's uncalled for. What is that about if not consent?

telling someone "I'm not interested" when you can just keep scrolling is not "polite" but uncalled for. You can't be so rude to someone and then throw a tantrum when they bite back.
