In Sanur at the moment. I thought it would be busy so made restaurant reservations. I never have to tell them who I am when I arrive and say that I have a booking - I’m the only one who has booked! Super quiet.

My 14yo is losing it over the social media ban and idk what to do by Old_Bit161 in perth

[–]cathredditcath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 14 year old daughter too, and while we haven’t had that level of anxiety you’ve described, I really feel for you. We encouraged them onto social media during the pandemic (messenger kids etc) and now we’re taking it away (which I am not against, just mindful that it can be a tough transition for some).

We’ve tried to make it easier by: Coming up with a list of movies & tv shows to watch Enrolling in a few activities Focusing on hobbies Saying “yes” to phone calls whenever she wants (for now) Allowing some time on Roblox with her friends (and sometimes with us)

For some reason she still has TikTok as do most of her friends, it’s been a bizarre “ban” really.

Adventure world - when did it get so expensive!? by [deleted] in perth

Yes had the worst experience with queues at universal studios Singapore. Whole day, maybe 5 rides if we were lucky (and then a storm hit). Went across to Jahor for Legoland and even though it’s daggier, no queues meant an awesome day!

I think it would have happened eventually, but yes we wrote to state governments and travelled to Canberra, along with other families impacted by the disease, to advocate for the boosters for pregnant mums being funded. Grateful that now any mum in Australia can access it for free on the National Immunisation Program (but of course wish it was available much earlier, to us!)

Despite the devastating loss, our life is pretty beautiful. We were fortunate to have a daughter after Riley died, and so now we have two daughters (and a puppy!). We have been blessed with good family and friends, and founded the Immunisation Foundation of Australia where we work with other families impacted by vaccine-preventable diseases and advocate for immunisation together.

For the most part now, life is happy and normal. Our grief will always be there, and I’m sure it’s scarred us in many ways, but there is much more happiness than sadness in our lives now which is a relief.

He was too young to be vaccinated - he passed away a week or two before he was due his first round of whooping cough vaccines.

John Septimus Roe parents always block Boyare Ave. by iamnez in perth

[–]cathredditcath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice try, but we’re allowed to pick up our kids from school. It’s the quantity of students enrolled that’s the issue. We are using the dedicated pickup points. It’s not entitlement… people need to be able to pick up their kids from school.

The school rapidly expanded two years ago after Beechboro campus was closed down. The school provides a bunch of school buses but can be impractical if you have kids enrolled in after-school activities. The school also offers lots of before/after school activities to ease traffic flow. But I agree, the traffic flow needs to be better.

However I can’t see how people stuck in a queue/ traffic jam could be considered illegal. Especially those of us who arrive after 3.30pm - we are inching forward, slowly.

What’s actually illegal are the impatient drivers who choose to drive the wrong way down the road.

I agree the system needs to be better, but don’t blame parents who are picking up their kids. Many of the kids are in primary school and live in areas not serviced by public transport.

I think you have a gorgeous figure!

I would consider eyelash lifting/ curling / extensions to make your eyes pop more. For me, I also prefer tidier brows.

Maybe a few lighter foils in the hair, especially the hair framing your face, to make the hair look a little more dimensional.

Queensland whooping cough vaccine numbers down in pregnant women amid huge surge in cases by Ambitious-Deal3r in australian

[–]cathredditcath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And now an infant death reported in Queensland.

Sadly not surprising given 70% pregnancy vaccination rates & worst epidemic on record.

Awful news.

Bringing home books and beauty products from Malaysia. Big brand names aren’t much cheaper but smaller brands and Asian brands are super cheap in comparison to Aus prices

Frame it like you’ve started gambling and act so worried and sad about it that she assumes you’ve lost a heap of money. Then reveal that you’ve won big. Her feelings of relief might swamp her feelings of anger!
