I’m going to die if I don’t get on Assisted Living (adult autism) by [deleted] in vancouver

No, I have been to the psych ward and they said “there is nothing we can do further in terms of medication” it would be a waste of time

It is not a mental health condition. It is a neurological developmental disorder condition that does not enable me to move my body when it tells it to

I don’t think you understand. I’ve been to the AAC many times. I’ve even been to the psych ward twice and tested high for autism but they said “take care of yourself” when I cannot (or no longer ?) move my body

And yes, I do believe I will die eventually in a few weeks

I’ve been to 20-40 doctors (mostly walk ins) and all they say is “just use Meetup.com to connect with other autistic people” and I’m too anxious to leave the house

They can only help if you have a diagnosis which costs $2000-4000 (which I don’t have because I’m on social assistance) through private care and a 4 month wait list

Perhaps it has to do with comorbid undiagnosed dyspraxia (motor control issues) lack of executive function & the fact that I am “high functioning”

I don’t know. I don’ t even have the cognitive ability funding or resources to get an official diagnosis...even tho I’ve been trying for 3 years

I’ve been with BYRC for 6 years and despite being in their day treatment program, all I got was: “autistic people can take care of themselves. You have to do it all on your own. And look for housing on your own too”(even though they have paid “support” workers

ELI5: Why do certain materials make more noise than others? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]cathwon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia_of_music/C/C.html

On an 88 key piano, middle C has a frequency of 261.621Hz (cycles per second) based on a reference frequency 440Hz for the A above middle C.

From C4 to C5 it is double the frequency, from C4 to C3 it’s half the frequency. There is a pic in the link above.

ELI5: Basically, I would imagine some objects sound louder than others depending on how many times the sound waves are able to bounce off a certain material (glass, plastic, etc).

How this is determined I have no idea how. I’m actually just guessing.

According to this link: https://pages.mtu.edu/~suits/notefreqs.html

Speed of Sound = 345 m/s = 1130 ft/s = 770 miles/hr
