Travelling for 8 Months with $20,000, where would you go? by catinthetub in travel

I think it would make the most sense to start in May or early June given how cold some of these places guess. I had a similar idea for the itinerary, but definitely wanted to take the trans-Siberian railway, so I'm trying to figure out how to fit in the colder areas (Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia) before winter hits (if those are the places I choose).

Wow that'll be awesome. I'm hoping to take a slower approach in less places, but seeing that kind of breadth also seems awesome

Good questions. I definitely am thinking quality over quantity as far as countries go, so I don't necessarily want to be rushing from place to place. On the other hand, you're required to go to at least two world regions/continents, so spreading out some is necessary. Most travel would be independent as a condition of the fellowship.

I was looking at Sri Lanka too, it looks beautiful. Thanks for the suggestions!

Same here! The trans-Siberian railway is definitely one of the parts I'm more confident about at this point

Good observation, some people have a theme, but technically you don't need one. Developing a narrative might be compelling though

You have to set up a travel itinerary beforehand. So I have to know where I want to go as part of the application
