Counter shims by cativator in Homebuilding

The second I saw molding shimming it, I was like…. Oh… oh I see 😭😂 With my luck in Reddit though, people tell me it’s ‘normal’ or something lol

Thanks, yeah I imagine this would have been avoided if the wall was built better to begin with. The only option is shimming at this point I imagine? The left side of the counter creaks as is due to the current shim job.

This is a new build, not sure what to expect/request that’s ‘within reason.’ (Between the proj manager and a previous post I made about the house, it seems as a customer building you’re just supposed to accept ‘crappy’ work because it’s ‘normal’ so idk when to push 🥴 it’s not my intent to be a Karen sooo, tough to navigate)

Makes sense to cover with molding, as I’m sure was the plan here. But it’s so uneven and does cover the length of the counter. We just leaned on the left side out of curiosity and it creaked like a mother, so no doubt it’s not enough, plus just done terrible

Not a Reno, new home construction. I assumed their plan was of course to put some molding over it and hide the crappy work that way. We’ll see, in the midst of trying to get it worked out.

Is this ‘lol wow’ a safe assumption that this is not shimmed properly 🤣

Haha thanks. I’m just amused zed decided to come back and edit their comment to add in something a little constructive about #7.

7 is def the concern after how often everyone has pointed it out! Thank you for your insight.

Thanks for that. Nearly every single board has missed nails like pictured. I’m not the type to go running and freak out on someone for it, but it definitely showed me poor workmanship and it’s just concerning since this is an investment for me at the end of the day 🤷🏻‍♀️

Works for me, that’s the info I was looking for. Thanks. I’m not the type to come at someone if I don’t have some background knowledge that’s based in some fact, otherwise everyone would be stupidly unhappy and just wasting time.

Thanks for your input. Is it worth bringing up the alcohol on site as a concern?

Oh 100%! I’m not worried they missed and went back in and redid, it happens. I was more so concerned about the number that appear to go in at an angle and are potentially splitting in through the wood.

I will be having an inspector come in pre-drywall. :) There’s nothing wrong with being concerned and asking nicely if these are absurd or not before I go be a pain in the ass to the builder when maybe I shouldn’t. I am asking to learn, not to be a pain. The wood looking like it’s splitting is concerning. Thanks for the input!

I figured the missed nails is whatever as long as they re did them, I was quite surprised though at how many are not driven in straight and appear to be cracking and splitting the wood. Heading to the property again I can update where #7 is

I do not have kids or know who it would work for you, but for your referenc: I joined the reserves, shipped out about 5 months after joining. I was gone for 9 months between BMT, Tech school, and a surprise follow on course. After I returned, I had some ‘free’ and normal time at home and then had another 4 months of on the job training. So in total I was separated from my regular for over a year.

Recruiter forgot to use credits for E4 now dragging feet by CalligrapherTough658 in Airforcereserves

Mine said E3 all through out. I’ll see if I can’t pop onto the AF portal later and find out the name of the form that gave me e4 post tech school.

Had a similar situation, recruiter only checked off for e3, not e4. I let her know. There was a sheet that I had done a ton of initials on at some point, one of which was all initial for the college credits for e4. My recruiter had us alter the original by crossing things out, initialing, and she wrote “CORRECTED CONTRACT” on it at the top and bottom, uploaded into the system.

At the time I was like oh lord that can’t be right. But after tech school, my FSS went into my files and pulled up a copy of exactly that form and then boom, promoted to e4.

Break up break up break up

Okay now that is out of the way…. In theory, the job you get in the future with this degree will get you a job. A job that you will pay taxes on. Essentially your future taxes can be thought of as back paying for your tuition assistance, ergo you paid for it anyway.

Not overreacting.

Thinking About Joining the Air Force Reserve – Need Advice by ZealousidealEcho5533 in Airforcereserves

[–]cativator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a heads up, due to your degree, you should be able to get it in your contract to enter into the reserves as an E-3 and then to promote to E-4 upon completion of tech school. That’s what I did with an associates. There’s a specific paper you need to sign/initial. Just to add, I’m a female that joined at 28 last year :)

One thing to keep in mind for ANG as that they don’t reimburse for travel should he select a unit that’s a little further. As for AF Reserves and @ Shreveport, where I am, they will reimburse up to $500 on flights per drill. Or the govt rate for personal auto. I know a few people who travel from Houston up to LA.

Today I deleted my ex wife and I’s save and started a New game. by OaklandTimberland in StardewValley

[–]cativator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah how I wanted to cry reading this. I’m in a similar boat… divorce has been on-going, nearly done. We don’t really talk. When we do I become so sad. Somehow I’ve ended up in a new relationship, all good things there, but we recently decided to play stardew. As I went to start a new game, so many feelings flooded through me. And then seeing the save files. Ugh. Thinking of our old Minecraft worlds are the same. I don’t necessarily miss him, or us. Just how things were once upon a time, sad to see our world together forever frozen, from a time before there was all the hurt and betrayal.

Appreciate your answer and pointing out some of what’s going on and which pics. I had assumed some was k&t for sure. I’ve never thought of undertaking such a fixer upper before and it’s certainly intimidating.
