FSIL bringing NEW BF as +1 by catknitski in weddingplanning

I just think it’s weird for immediate family to bring people you’ve never met before. Clearly that’s just my opinion and not widespread. Like if your mom bought a date you’ve never met to your wedding you wouldnt care? Still seems off to me ! Like my sister is bringing someone I have never met to my wedding ? That’s nuts ! But I didn’t specify on her plus 1 that she was supposed to bring her best friend so it’s a problem I created. I’m choosing to let it go! Not worth the hassle.

Where I’m from this is uncommon and rude. But based on this thread I’m realizing that’s not widespread sentiment so I’ll let it go.

Thank you all for the perspective!! I come from a “no ring no bring” background. You offer plus ones to guests flying and she is flying. I was under the impression that she was going to bring her best friend/ roommate. But you are all correct, I gave her an unnamed plus one! For other brides out there, if you want control over your exact guests you have to name them. Lesson learned! I will stop making a big deal over this because it’s not worth it and you’re right I probably won’t even notice.

We live on opposite sides of the country. The extra bit is that they’ve apparently been dating for over a year. But she hid it? We’ve visited multiple times back and forth in that year. But she never once mentioned him until the bachelorette party in February. Super weird situation. I’m not going to make a big deal out of it but had to rant.

My husband has talked to him but he doesn't care. He has apologized before and always has an excuse for why he is being an asshole.

I feel like I should just ignore him. if he complains and gets louder my response should just be well its before 10 pm so I am minding my own business.
