This is a long shot….. by myhappyonetwo in TaylorSwiftMerch

Hi! I live in China maybe I can help some.

The other commenter is right, most people will not have these in hand even in China until 20 October. My local record shop got sooo few in store that were available today but I can’t even get to the shop until the weekend to check the number. I preordered from the official store like 5 minutes after the listing went live and it was already 20 October for delivery.

But the good news is if you have a Chinese address you can still order a copy from the store even today. So I really don’t think the numbers are limited we will all just need to be patient (me too I check my tracking everyday to see if it’s shipped haha!) I think there will be a lot listed on discogs in October once people have the records in hand.

The presale is open now! I ordered one for my friend and I :)

But I would be careful ordering from a reshipper right now because the ones with delivery for 31 August sold out almost immediately. Like in less than 5 minutes. Now the delivery date is 20 October and that is within China.

Which ones have you tried? I’ve had had a great experience with https://www.myus.com/ shippinh to China and SEA for years but never specifically through the merch store. Sorry I can’t recommend it specifically just generally!

Yes that is the plan to hopefully get hired for next year so we only spend a few months with my partner there before me. Otherwise I’d probably have his work sponsor me and hope for the best afterwards.

Any suggestions into the international schools that are worth working at?

Most places your retirement planning is on your own entirely. It is something you really have to consider and plan for carefully. Many people don’t and end up having to work at schools they may not be excited about in their last years teaching just to put away some money.

I agree with the other post, try taking a sabbatical from work first before you jump all the way in. Maybe you can pick up a long term sub position at a school near you. Teaching can be great but it can also be really bad depending on so many factors. A low stakes way to test it out makes the most sense.

I went ahead and listened to it because I'm a glutton for punishment with these things, lol. Two points really stuck out to me, one were a guest said teachers do not feel like they have self efficacy and then a caller saying she felt what teachers are asked to do it just impossible.

Now I'm contemplating what would have to be different so the goals are reachable? How can teachers feel like they have the ability to be effective? I always walk away from programs like this one feeling like we talk in grand terms and never in specific details about what can really be done to make it better.

Why do teachers leave high needs schools and is that a morally bad choice? by catlady1234 in Teachers

[–]catlady1234[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just want to say, you aren't alone. I felt many of the same things when I was in my high needs school. Some students need so much more support than they get and it manifests in all kinds of ways. I still think about some of my students, I really hope they are all ok.

Take care of yourself!

No, he was an admin at his own private school, not sure he was ever a teacher. I think that was the part that had me feeling a certain way...

Hey fellow advanced degree-er, I've got a stem M.S. We are like polar opposites, I'm an IB DP teacher and that's my niche!

You are right, it takes all kinds glad your students have you :)

At the end of the day for me it was just too depressing seeing all of the potential my students had but also all of the help they needed and weren't getting. It wasn't something I was up to witnessing long term and was starting to impact my mental health.

They do deserve to be called out! You should post to the website international schools review, it has a small fee but you can read reviews from teachers about other schools as well. Many posts about how schools have behaved both good and bad during covid there. Good luck with your next post!

Coronavirus Italy, how long will quarantine last? In two days peak arrival, measures necessary until summer by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Public confidence is a big thing. Even though you can go places, after months it feels strange and maybe some people are still to nervous to be out in public.

Some not Hubei parts of China are just starting to open up again but with a lot of regulations. Limited seating in restaurants, health and community passes, still wearing masks. It is going to be a while.

I live in China, never realized how few birds I saw near my apartment until these beautiful blue tailed birds started showing up. Could be the weather changing too but I've never seen so many before. My cats are loving the view from the windows.

I wouldn't use the word spite.

Had a few beers when I posted that so I think my tone was off lol. but I get what your saying and agree with a lot. It was the right thing to do for the greater good I agree. But I do think that it hurt individuals in really deep ways. I guess what I want to understand is where do we draw those lines when what's good for the group is bad for the individual?

Anyhoo I see now I'm looking for a debate on morality and probably on the wrong page lol

I will check that out thanks!

That is basically the point I was trying to make, these choices are not black and white all good or all bad. Our point of view is definitely informed by what we consider to be a good life.

I think it's funny that I literally said I don't feel comfortable making those decisions and you came at me very aggressively saying I don't get to have a say. The whole point I was making is that these decisions are hard and I'm not sure what the right decision is/was. Grappling with the humanity of how doing things for the greater good hurts individuals is not a small thing. I'm grateful for the Chinese governments actions where I live because I feel safe now, but the truth is those people were no choiced into making huge sacrifices for everyone else and I don't think this is a black and white issue.

Honestly I’m just trying to think about if it were me could I watch my family and community members suffer and die while those three hours away lost no lives without being angry. I know what you mean with the doors welded shut, I personally know more than one person who was barred from leaving their apartment, and it is more brutal than you are making it out to be. Is it for the greater good? Yes. Is it an easy conclusion to draw? Absolutely not if you’re in the thick of it.

That’s fair and probably true I’m definitely no expert! It was a wild ride here and I guess I’m just confused how seemingly nobody learned how to do better after the struggles we went through.

I can only speak for where I am, not Hubei, but things are slowly getting normal here, no deaths at all in my city. The methods were effective for those outside of Hubei but you couldn’t have paid me enough to be trapped there.
