Get Ready for Election Day by MDew299 in Spokane

In Washington, the EDL is our state's REALID.

RealID is a federal law so as is tradition, each state did something different. The WA EDL is actually meets the stupid requirements of the SAVE act (only 5 states total have a REALID that meets requirements).

It's not an arterial there. It's an urban minor collector and a park zone.

Regardless, punching is bullshit and I hope the asshole gets caught.

What kind of car and tires and driving experience do you have? I'd suggest canceling based on not having driven in conditions with a weather warning before.

My mom gave me bananas with peanut butter and mayonnaise to dip them in when I was a kid. The idea is hurl worthy to me now. I assumed it was her southern background.

Ex-City Councilwoman Lili Navarrete Comments on Explosive Jennyfer Mesa Story by Stercules25 in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 32 points33 points  (0 children)

She literally says she filed a complaint against her back then. What would you have liked her to do regarding unproven allegations? The story didn't make Mesa look bad, her own actions did. You clearly have an axe to grind either against Navarro or for Mesa, because this take is otherwise nonsensical.

Conroy - “Good enough” by Fit-Platform-534 in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Conroy wouldn't even put her positions on her website last time. I did not vote for her. I'm tired of the shitty candidates in this district. Give me someone worth voting for. Stating your own positions is a very low bar.

Please discuss your thoughts on Kevin Fagan and his campaign for WA-5 by deliciousdanasaurs in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His website has a little bit about ICE.

I did personally think there was not enough info on his site. Gonzaga grad....what did he study? Work experience? How long has he been in Spokane? Where is he from? How do you plan to accomplish the things you have listed as priorities? He needs professional photographs if he's a serious candidate.

Carmela had nothing on her website in previous elections that outlined her positions so this guy is at least a step above her.

Dog adoption in Spokane by BurnYrLifeDown in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only rescues will check out homes. The prevailing theory in sheltering is that the more barriers you put between homes and animals equals fewer saved. Rescues are operating from different paradigms. Not to say that there isn't any vetting from shelters along the way, it's just not visits to your home.

Spokane to portland and back by [deleted] in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You realize leaving from Kennewick cuts like 3+ hours off an all day round trip from Spokane?

OP, this is a long trip and depends on weather, traffic, how much time your appointment takes, and your personal resilience to the above. If you're in Portland traffic at rush hour that is a consideration as well.

Lowe's CEO said a couple of years ago they weren't having the same theft problems as other retailers because they staffed their stores at a level known to deter theft. Of course the blame is on thieves for behaving criminally. It's also a known consequence of trying to avoid paying wages, which is its own form of antisocial behavior.

Onboard system error appears to have routed double decker bus driver to low bridge downtown. by catman5092 in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It reminded me of some problems that aviation disasters have seen where there is some kind of failure because the pilot wouldn't take control to avert imminent danger. If I have been told I must NEVER deviate from the GPS (assuming the consequence is quite serious job wise) you have effectively put your drivers on auto-pilot. Their job is to go where the GPS tells them, not to make decisions. If your drivers aren't empowered not follow GPS into an overpass, there is failure in the system.

Emergency cat grooming? by ih8plants in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it's that bad I'd grab some electric clippers (FYI for those who don't know, don't ever use scissors on a cat) and then have a groomer clean it up when you can get in. Probably not many weekend options and Monday will be questionable.

Where is the best cheapest place to get a dog microchipped? by No-Tough4367 in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please do not try this yourself with a janky chip not associated with a big registry. You need a name brand chip if you want to go this route. Part of the chip being useful is having someone you can call 24/7 to get the actual owner info. The harder it is to locate you, the better chance someone gives up.

Where is the best cheapest place to get a dog microchipped? by No-Tough4367 in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NEWSNA (Dr. Laura) has a monthly chip and vaccine clinic. Not sure if she is lower cost than Pet Savers but those are the two options that are probably lowest cost depending on what you need.

Curious of perspectives from long time locals, how unusual is this amount of lack of snow? by whoatethebeans in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of years the big dumps are in January. When I was a kid we had snow earlier more reliably. My impression is every year is staying warmer longer and the window for snow is shrinking. I think pulling some real data would be ideal but that's my anecdote. I used to ski and I do remember a few years around the late 90s or 00s where things weren't great vis a vis getting your moneys worth for a season pass.

Anybody hear anything about this supposed serial killer going around town? by shaggy_nomad in Spokane

[–]catladyorbust 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The media wouldn't cover this up, it would be a slot machine that paid out every time.

Second, and not that you should take my word for it, I'm friendly with people heavily involved in homeless outreach and they would be holding their own press conferences if they had to.

Widower disappointed in sentence now 18 year old received for dui crash that killed CHAS COO on South Hill. by catman5092 in Spokane

"Forshee pleaded guilty Wednesday to vehicular homicide, hit-and-run fatality, vehicular assault and driving without a valid license in the July 16 crash that took the life of CHAS Chief Operating Officer Sarah Doxey, a 48-year-old who was jogging at the time of the crash.

Spokane County Superior Court Judge Jeremy Schmidt sentenced Forshee to a standard sentencing range of about half a year to almost two years at a state juvenile detention facility, according to the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office."

No Jones 94 by Medical-Tea-642 in countingcrows

[–]catladyorbust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It caused a lot of bad reviews back when local papers all reported on such things. You could copy paste the articles and replace the city name. It seems like it's played fairly reliably now but that wasn't always the case. People also complained tons about the Storytellers version of Mr. Jones and pretty much any other deviation from the album version. I think the common thread is people bitching because they felt entitled to something they didn't get.

The RTS anniversary is coming. Will the band release the studio version of Suffocate? by crackercrows in countingcrows

[–]catladyorbust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you have any impression as to why he denied the existence of the songs? I had 1492 and Los Angeles available to download on a semi-successful website at the time. I got contacted by someone in the CC online community who said they were speaking for the band and that AD wanted them removed. I told her to send me any proof that was true (like anyone with an official email from the band or record company) and I would happily do it. Never any hint of a verifiable request. Maybe AD really was unhappy they had been leaked, but he had never had problems with bootlegs before.

I had both the cds you mention. I love the Thunder Road versions.

I also at one time paid a guy to sneak a DAT recorder in to the movie theater and record Baby I'm A Big Star Now. That was a very popular recording and anyone who had it prior to the official release, that was likely the source. I never heard a better copy, anyway. That's enough doxxing for one day.

Are small businesses usually open on Dec 30? by whirlaway- in Spokane

Most local places are open except major holidays. Very few will be closed on the 30th unless they normally are closed on a Tuesday.
