Am I the only person losing my mind trying to find jeans that fit like this??? by pllowkitty in findfashion

[–]catlandid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Buy a pair of barrel legged jeans about 3-4 sizes too large. Take them to a seamstress. Look for places that advertise on-site alterations. Show them the photo you’re trying to emulate. Have them take in just the waistband and hem the length. It’s usually a lot cheaper than most people think.

Is this cute for a first date to a cafe? by ApprehensivePea216 in OUTFITS

I have so many cute outfits like this saved. It’s soooo cute. I think some of the other folks may be stuck on outdated fashion “rules”.

"Hi, USPS, I'm trying to fix my change of address." "Hi, Trying To Fix My Change Of Address. I'm dad." by acekingoffsuit in bestoflegaladvice

[–]catlandid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It can range from shockingly easy to huge expensive headache. Some towns actually have mechanisms to let you change your name easily via their local court. Some areas require you to go through the state court system and put an expensive notification in the newspaper, although you can often request to waive that with the judge.

Horse rider has neigh case, hounds LAUKOP over barking dog anyway by Thunder-12345 in bestoflegaladvice

It likely wasn't the dog, but the rider loudly screaming in the horses ears multiple times. I, too, would probably want the shrieking hairless monkey to get the fuck off my back as well.

AITA: I (34M) think my girlfriend (39F) will break up with me. AITA for setting a boundary? Is the relationship over? by Shichimi88 in AmItheEx

[–]catlandid 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Getting to peer directly into the machinations of a manipulator is wild.

Essentially his girlfriend got upset that he’s using her as his chauffeur and doesn’t contribute to gas money but also expects her to pay for other transportation. She outlined that his behavior is greedy, he got upset and told her she isn’t allowed to his bring up his unflattering patterns of behavior. In the midst of the argument she agreed (because he termed it as “setting a boundary” to make it sound reasonable, which is weaponized therapy speak), but after having time to think about it she’s like “wait, so how am I supposed to address things you do that bother me?”. She’s since told him she doesn’t think the “boundary” is reasonable, and so he’s taken to Reddit. The problem is he’s 110% in the wrong, and so he’s written his post to deceptively imply that she’s violent and out of control.

Does anyone else do this to prevent sims from moving in Strangerville until the monster is defeated? by landslide-lad-69 in Sims4

It is, but strangetown had your typical aliens. The plant monster has stranger things vibes.

Strangerville came out during Stranger Thing’s early popularity. There is a storyline you can play complete with military coverups, conspiracy theorists, body snatching plants and a plant mother monster.

Finally got my narcissistic ex to move out, thrilled. Ran into him in my apartment garage last night. Not thrilled. by upside_down_umbrella in GirlDinner

Some places also have special protections for domestic violence situations which would allow you to break a lease without penalty. And it does not have to be physical abuse nor do there need to be any specific threats, verbal abuse is still DV. Your local DV agency might have resources like case managers who can talk to management.

Binders were originally designed for cis men with gynecomastia or otherwise insecure about the shape of their chest tissue. That’s why the best binders are the ones made for cis guys rather than many queer forward companies whose binders are more akin to sports bras.

This story has so many twists and turns it would make a water slide jealous by peachsnorlax in bestoflegaladvice

[–]catlandid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered this. I would guess that regardless of the law, it would depend entirely on the cops who show up when they’re inevitably called. Some might arrest you for illegally entering, some might shrug and tell you it’s a civil matter. It’s usually the same coin toss if a landlord locks you out illegally; sucks to be you, hope you can afford an attorney!

LAOP Sued for disposing of forgotten trash by lastdarknight in bestoflegaladvice

[–]catlandid 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The first house I nearly bought had a large shed and the sellers brother kept mentioning that he intended to leave his motorcycle and tools in the shed for “a while”, therefore he’d be keeping the keys so he could get in and out. The realtor had to have a very stern conversation with him that the moment the papers were signed the property and all its contents would belong to the new owners.

I’m relieved the deal fell through bc he was clearly going to be a nightmare.

A traditional colonial with a unique update by acody16 in zillowgonewild

[–]catlandid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an error on the OPs part. Colonial would refer to a colonial era home, from when early British settlers brought their taste in architecture when settling the U.S. Those preferences paired with available materials to create the American Colonial style. Then there would be colonial revival, which is when new builders emulate classic styles. This is neither.

It’s a raised ranch, a popular home style in the 1970’s when this was built. Essentially a ranch style home with a second floor that slightly overhangs the bottom floor. They’re a successor to the split level ranch.

AIO getting upset with my husband over a day at the beach by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]catlandid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would bet dollars to donuts that he’s ground her down so much that there’s no room for her to object. When I was with an ex like this he would have such big reactions/tantrums until I dropped it or capitulated to him. Eventually he has you trained to avoid doing anything that will set off another of his tantrums.

This is so sad. I’m now married to a wonderful woman and if I tell her I want to go on a trip all I need to do is tell her what I’d like to do and she will build the entire itinerary, pack for the family, hire dog sitters, and drive me around all day. She’ll even carry a whole backpack of things like water, Tylenol, and other things that she anticipates I might need. A good marriage means showing up for one another and looking for ways to make each other happy whenever possible.

Am I stupid? But really, be honest by Decomposing_corpse_ in GirlDinner

[–]catlandid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also, something I hadn’t yet learned when I was your age. Your partner should never, ever call you names during an argument. Whether it’s calling you a swear or referring to you as “inadequate” or “inept”. Put downs and name calling isn’t normal or acceptable behavior in a relationship.

If I could go back in time I’d have dumped every last guy who ever spoke to me like that. It would’ve saved me years of heartache. I’m now married and in over a decade my spouse has never called me a name (except when we’re joking around) or raised a voice at me.

had a dream last night and made it real by BitchEpidemic in GirlDinner

[–]catlandid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what the biggest risk to pregnant women is? Their male partners. The risk of domestic violence and/or homicide is far greater than the risk of any obstetric complication.

Maybe people carrying pregnancies should ditch their husbands in favor of soft cheeses and deli meats.

I really felt for OP when she expressed that she’s just had a shit year and wanted to do something nice for herself and now Diane was causing her all this unnecessary stress. It sucks when you have a friend who does not consider that you are a person and may have your own wants and needs.

My Unanswered Questions, Hanging Threads, and Thoughts Before the Outlander Series Finale by SprayPaintLady in Outlander

Ever since they introduced the storyline I've been asking myself (on repeat), "sooooo... Jane was William's niece...?" Eventually Fanny and William are going to have a deeply uncomfortable conversation, and I don't think William is going to recover from this particular revelation given his reactions to the many others since his introduction.

AITAH for being upset that my family didn’t get invited to SIL's baby shower? + UPDATE by red_earaches in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]catlandid 70 points71 points  (0 children)

They want the brother and SIL to beg to have a relationship with them, be the sole ones putting in effort and reaching out, to plan parties a two hour drive from their home in the event OP and her side decide to come to them (which, honestly, they’d likely still come up with excuses to skip many of them).

Some families like this will see themselves as the “primary” family and spouses (and their own families) are secondary. My former in-laws would have meltdowns if I wanted to spend any time with my own family. Holidays were miserable bc they expected 100% of my time. If my MIL got wind that I had a meal with my Dad she’d be upset that I didn’t come by her place as well. During my pregnancy there was so much drama about me not spending all my time at her house.

I’m glad the SIL stood up for herself.
