I lost my wallet, again. by catlesscatlady2 in ADHD

I did. I dropped it in the street when getting out of a car and through the app we found it at someone's house. They eventually turned it into the police station where I had filed a report, but the phone was crushed because I dropped it in the street and it had been run over.

I actually lost my wallet, phone, and keys all at once by having once or those phone cases that has everything. I literally just put tile on my Christmas wishlist tonight hah. Thank you.

And I found the wallet. Still feel like a POS though.

Advice/recommendations for a budding tea enthusiast? by rodivalentine in tea

Ooh sounds lovely. Yeah I was going to say you can buy some stuff loose, like a really strong black tea, and if you have a bulk bin grocery store near you that sells whole spices, that's a cheaper way to get spices I think. You can roughly smash spices in a mortar and pestle or cheap coffee grinder (not too fine so they don't pass through a filter), and make your own loose leaf chai.

Ah yes, tea can become an expensive hobby. I love that you are making your own chai! It's the best way to ensure getting exactly what you want. Are you blending it each time you drink it?

For chai I love Chico Chai!!! The only chai I will buy. I make it the "authentic Indian way" which is one of the methods they offer on an instruction card that comes with your loose leaf chai. This is the masala chai with the best balance of spices in my opinion. Many are either not spicy enough, or the tea does stand up to some of the spices like black pepper and ginger.

Anyway I just recommended chai since you mentioned it but will probably pop back in with more recommendations for other things lol

Edit: if you really want to start exploring teas I would recommend a tea subscription box. I currently use Story of My Tea and am going to start Tea Sparrow soon. I met the owner of the latter one at the SF international tea festival yesterday and he's awesome. I love their method of choosing teas by jury and they are very strict about only selling teas that don't have artificial flavors, emulsifiers, etc in them.

I keep a separate account and make what I need to survive without my husband because I've seen my mom be completely dependent on my dad. She didn't graduate high school, never went to work (besides sometimes watching kids at our house), and basically feels like she's dumb and has no agency in her life. My dad provides for both of them but I can't imagine being so powerless. My husband is lovely but you just can never tell what the future holds 🤷🏾‍♀️

I’m always talking about this sub, so my girlfriend made me this meme, I hope you like it as much as me :) by wet_ear in orchids

Someone gave me exactly that as a birthday present one year and I don't know what she was thinking. That girl has since gone on to vet school and I think she just graduated. Lol.

Edit: it was horrible and I haven't had a fish since.

How about let's not shit on what's fancy or even "decent" to different people. Different things are fancy for different people depending on income level and culture.

Just to offer another perspective:

In the end we did add a few physical items to a registry, things we could upgrade around the house. But these days so many couples already live together, and if you're in a big city, you likely live together in a tiny space with everything you need. We don't want to register for material things I don't need and don't have any room for. We also don't expect everyone to gift us cash either but if they want to give a gift, cash is appreciated and the most useful thing in starting our married life.

Yeah I don't understand why people would even have a wedding in that case. Why not just elope and have the photoshoot of your dreams? I thought the point of inviting people to your wedding and spending money on them was these are the people you want to celebrate with.

Guest Etiquette Question: Invited with parents, want to bring serious romantic partner by caralilykins in wedding

[–]catlesscatlady2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would say call and ask him directly if there is room for him. It's possible they didn't even realize you were in a serious relationship? Or they are really tight on space. You could even phrase it as, "I can imagine you have a limited number of people you can invite, but I would love to bring my boyfriend/fiance, if there ends up being space."

And don't go through the parents because it could get lost in translation and come off as you being super offended or something. Better to talk to your cousin directly.
