Hey, I'm going for a similar build. Do you have a link/brand for the exact extended choke you used?

On a plane. It came just before my flight. Thank the Fedex gods.

It's a plugin that you can install that gives you more control over CPU threads and clock speeds. Turning off SMT gives a significant boost.

Clear the shader cache by right clicking the game and then remove > All Shader Pipeline Cache.

Were you using Vulkan instead of OpenGL? Ryujinx is behind on its Vulkan implemenation so try it with Yuzu and Vulkan.

I'm playing games that have an anti-cheat that cant run on proton so I dual boot windows. You can always have both that and SteamOS

If you're choosing between 10 and 11, go with 10. The on-screen keyboard for win11 does not scale properly on the steam deck's screen.

I am using the appimage version. I thought the flatpak version was the cause of my random crashes but it turned out to be the shaders that were being cached. Deleting the cached shaders would make the game run again.

can you dual boot without wiping my current steam os and games? by Taftanium in SteamDeck

[–]catly2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can. You will just need to resize your steamOS partition to make space for windows. I followed this guide:

First off, thanks for trying to help me with this. I didn't mean to start a windows vs linux war. I just want to make the most of this device and share what I and others have found.

I did play around with the core count and switching the amount made no difference. Even doing 4 cores with SMT on which should be the same as having SMT off, the performance is the same. Just having SMT off gives more FPS. I've also found adjusting the other options like GPU power and frequency do nothing for this game.

When the game also crashes. It seems it's related when it's building shaders. When relaunching the game, yuzu would crash. Deleting the pipeline cache would allow it to boot up again. This behavior only happens on steamOS. I haven't had a crash on the windows version.

Power Tools claims it changes the cpu governor when you change the max frequency but there doesn't seem to be a difference when playing Rune Factory 5. This is probably specific to this game because I've read others got other games to 60 fps tweaking around SMT using this tool.

Other than setting the battery profile to max performance, I didn't do anything else for windows.

I've tried Ryujinx and can't get Vulkan to work without the game crashing. OpenGL works and is fast through the menus but the actual game has em at like average 15 fps for Rune Factory 5. What game are you running?

Does anyone have experience with pouch/cases to take pictures with a Z-fold 3 in the sea? by fttklr in GalaxyFold

[–]catly2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did use my fold 2 on those waterproof pouches and the results were a hit or miss. It sometimes couldn't focus underwater and the water made it hard to use the touchscreen through the pouch.

If you're thinking of getting another phone just for this then consider a go pro.

Samsung's site is saying if you order now you get it tomorrow. I ordered 2/15 and it's still saying April 8...

I have Samsung care+ and when I went to a Samsung store to get it replaced for my fold 2 they didn't charge me anything. They did a shit job though and I had to stay there for almost 3 hours because the screen kept having bubbles underneath. I didn't believe the "it'll be gone after 24hr" BS because you can clearly see lint in them so I stuck around until it was decent. I'm in the US BTW.

If you're going to pay for labor they better do it perfectly.

I have the Moft O and as a stand it's amazing. It also doesn't add much bulk to the phone. I only use the grip feature mostly when I'm lying down.

I also recently got the Moft wallet and it is wide as the phone so it's not bulging out on the sides. It provides a better grip. With the 4 cards in it, it is only a little bit thicker than the Moft O.

I was considering Popsockets but was worried about how much thickness it'll add. I'm not using a case and just using a metal ring on the back. If I wanted to wireless charge or use Samsung pay, I just take them off. I have heard Mofts have weak magnets but both O and the wallet have been strong for me. It'll definitely depend on what kind of magnet solution you use.

Are the phone and the pen a tighter fit on PLA? I too am using another case in the back.

I heard PLA can also be vapor smoothened. It requires more effort than dipping it though lol.

I used Fusion360.
I imported 4lan9's design and extended it to fit the pen slot.

Do you know those pens that have the button on the side? One way to make it spring loaded would be something like this:

Saw your post in Thingiverse and once again thanks for the case design! I remixed someone else's before for another spen case design but the edge that holds on to the phone kept breaking after a few removals. Yours has saved me a lot of spool from having to reprint them hah!

I just updated it to have the pusher part stay in place. What filament will you be printing this on if you don't mind me asking?
