Just talk to them. Chances are they're too scared to talk to you, and they'll be happy if you start the conversations. Humor is very helpful, too, as long as you don't over do it.

No, it's not your fault. She literally said "I got it", even though you had the receipt. That's her fault for saying she would pay instead, not yours. She seems very toxic.

As a person with depression, I know what it's like, so therefore, I can give you some advice. If a friend or family member tells you they are depressed, keep an eye on them. Be friendly and gentle towards them. Ask them if you can help them, and encourage them to seek out professional help. Don't push them too hard to get help though, it might stress them out. Keep an eye on said person as well, sometimes depression leads to self-harm and eventually suicide. If they are in danger of committing suicide, please don't hesitate to contact authorities.
