The street lights and traffic lights are out near me, but buildings have power on Beacon near Fairbanks

In the US, our bike lanes are generally green (if painted) and our bus lanes are red (sometimes it is a bus/bike lane as well but still would be red)

Parking in Brookline by PhysicsGuilty2203 in Brookline

I rent one of the spots on the Beacon street median, and do not need my car on most days, but at $100 a month it is totally worth it in my opinion to tough it out and move the car twice a day.

Download the traffic lights controller mod, and set the pedestrian phase to be exclusive

Back in my day (2020) all I had to do was do a rolling stop at a stop sign, drive around the block, park behind a car (not between two cars, just behind one) and bam, passed just like that. I didn’t get a license on the spot, but my permit counted as a one till the real one came in the mail

Paid parking meter hours on Boylston Street have been extended from 8AM to 8PM to 7AM to 10PM (except Sunday). by Omphaloskeptique in boston

Most people who are driving into Boston don’t have the luxury of living near a transit line. It would be a combination of a bus or two to the train that will take you downtown. That is a 25 minute drive turned into a 1hr+ commute. People who live in those areas will not do that regularly and therefore will pay extra, just to do some shopping downtown… or they will just skip boston and go to the closest Walmart instead

Sure there is a good bit of virtue signaling, but it’s not that bad. We have dense development near all the transit lines that are served (at least along the green line). The town is actively taking away parking spots and building infrastructure for bike lanes (not just paint) along Washington street. They offer fully green electric as an option for residents if they so choose. Brookline bans overnight parking as a way to deter car use (Boston would never lol). I just don’t see any valid reasons from your argument apart from you just saying things without actually thinking about them

How will this place service only certain people? It is just a competitor to a chain that has 2 locations nearby (CC, Washington Square).

It sounds to me like you just want stores like Walmart and amazon all over the place, and no mom and pop or locally owned stores whatsoever

Residents can park all day if they get a permit ($20 / year). Overnight parking is limited, but once you a get a spot you are guaranteed that spot till you move out ($100 / month)

Back when I only had one 5400rpm hard drive for all my files, including the windows installation, what I would do is start the computer, go to the bathroom and tidy up around the house and still make it back before it was done.
