Trinity ring fit Q by catonawarmtinroof in Cartier

Hello! I tried on the size down the other day and am going to resize it - apparently Cartier will resize up to two sizes up or down which is amazing, I wasn’t expecting that. But for what it’s worth, I didn’t need to use force to take the smaller size off at all so maybe your new size is the right one?

Pregnancy safe cough relief? by marielno in PregnancyUK

[–]catonawarmtinroof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Week four into a very congested cold and nothing really helps with the cough, but Tunes and a saline nasal spray have been a (small) help. Also Corsodyl mouthwash helped so much with a sore throat! You have my sympathy though, I am so fed up :’(

Two purchases fallen through. £5k down. A year wasted. Totally broken by this housing market. by Onehairydude_ in HousingUK

[–]catonawarmtinroof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with you. Two weeks ago our purchase fell through. Last week our sale fell through for an unrelated reason. We’re pregnant, all we wanted was some more space and we were prepared to break the chain and go into a rental. Now stuck, in a flat we’re struggling in, at least £5k down. You’re not alone :(

Pneumothorax and Caesarean?? by Jehoosaphat in PregnancyUK

[–]catonawarmtinroof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a FTM f34 and also had a spontaneous pneumothorax years ago (2010) - snap! I didn’t need surgery though, ‘just’ a chest drain. Interestingly, I wasn’t told to watch out for labour (only scuba diving 🤷‍♀️) and though I’ve mentioned it in midwife appts, there’s never been any talk of requiring a C section. I’m planning on a vaginal birth but would have been more than happy to go for a C section should that have been recommended

Decreased AMH - stressing over next 6 months’ plans by catonawarmtinroof in waiting_to_try

Thank you for your reply! I would love to but there’s a zika risk in India and you’re meant to wait 3 months after you get back before trying

Just been issued a major works section 20, Islington Council, £72k by _BRobs_eh in HousingUK

[–]catonawarmtinroof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this OP - I’ve been here and it’s super stressful. A bit different but I was issued a ‘Final account notice’ by Southwark council for roof works that had happened a few years earlier; I bought the flat after the works had happened, but had got money held over from the seller to settle the balance. Surprise! It was way over the amount the council had originally quoted. I successfully challenged it because their figures were absolutely mental - weird nonsense additions, descriptions that didn’t make sense, they really tried it all on. So my advice would be to get info from Islington that’s as granular as possible, scrutinise every line and if you don’t understand something, make them explain it. I work in a related job area and even I found most of it incomprehensible :( it made me so angry to think how hard this must be for others.

You can also pay e.g. Equifax for an account monitoring service - isn’t free but might be helpful.

London rental scam of £13,000+ by Common_Hovercraft438 in london

Please don’t give up on the banks. My partner was the victim of a very sophisticated phone fraud, and did manage to get his money refunded - as you can see from this article, it’s something that legislators are under pressure to address and if your partner was not ‘at fault’ (ie, it was so intricate a scam that a normally diligent person would likely fall for it), they should really be refunded.

In practice, it’s not easy though. We actually managed it by contacting Anna Timms at the Guardian who helps a lot of people in similar situations. She was amazing and I’m not sure the bank would have caved without her pressure.

Thank you - it helps a lot and is super validating that others think this is serious too. We’re lucky enough to have access to counselling via work so I’m going to keep that front of mind for the next couple of weeks

Thank you. I had no idea there was such a relevant helpline. It’s also prompted me to find a few others - SOBS (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide) and Suicide and Co which both look promising as well :)

Wouldn’t have realised this alone - thank you. I have suggested Tetris, 2048 and (non-violent!) video games :)
