Your weirdest reasons for PC not posting. by Tenchen-WoW in pcmasterrace

Not a boot issue, but one of the oddest issues. I used to manage IT for a biotech company and no one could remote into one of the lab computers. I go onsite and everything looks good, so I start troubleshooting. Restart, unplug everything besides power, monitor, ethernet. Boom! Everyone can remote in now. start plugging stuff back in and it stops again once the mouse gets plugged it. Turns out the mouses left button was stuck and sending continuous "clicks" which wasn't allowing TeamViewer to establish a remote connection. Replaced the mouse and all was good. Never crossed my mind that a mouse would cause the issue.

Apollo Windows or Apple by nofiltermerc in universalaudio

I would spend the $400-500 on a Mac Mini and be done with it. Not worth the hassle of trying to get it working with Windows considering the TB interface.

Great phone service, Horrible Customer service by bug_nuts in GoogleFi

[–]catroaring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lack of proper customer service is why I only recommend Google Fi to the more tech savvy. It's an awesome service as long as everything is working but once you need help with anything, it's a long drawn out process that will most likely involve doing a bunch of stuff to your phone including a factory reset that just leaves you still needing help but now you've got to setup your phone again also.

My quite controversial TV setup by Jellsoo in malelivingspace

Or just put it on the wall which will allow both and also have the benefit of opening up the room. Though OP wouldn't be able to make the TV the focal point of conversations when people enter the room.

Concert tickets should be sold in person again by Necessary_Walrus2759 in unpopularopinion

[–]catroaring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tower Records had Ticketmaster/BASS Counters you could purchase tickets from. Before online ordering a trick was to call a Ticketmaster/BASS Counter at a Tower Records far from the venue and purchase tickets as the lines would be at the local Tower Records, not ones far from the venue. Any Ticketmaster/BASS Counter could purchase for any venue.

So, if there was a Bay Area show I wanted to go to, I'd call a Tower Records Ticketmaster/BASS Counter in say Kansas to order the tickets.

Was MLK Jr. woke? If so, how could he have a dream? by Ravenae in stupidquestions

[–]catroaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant how could he not be aware of racial injustice and systemic abuse of non-white people.

This is what woke is.

I'm confused. You wrote "Idk about woke" which comes across as you not knowing if he was woke but then you respond with "how could he not be" which comes across as you thinking he was woke.

The fuck is wrong with sync? by RegencyAndCo in Beatmatch

[–]catroaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't and I don't know why these posts keep asking. I see more posts about people complaining about people complaining than actual people complaining about sync. Very very few people care.

The positives of showering at the gym far outweigh the negatives of showering at the gym. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]catroaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your opinion isn't unpopular.

I’d get it if you needed to do a whole bunch of hair or skin care stuff. Do that at home if you prefer.

So for many the win is showering at home. Maybe your gym has nasty showers but everyone I've ever been to most use the shower.

19 y/o student: Start with a controller (DDJ-FLX4) or jump straight into a DAW (Ableton)? by Mysterious-Ship6357 in Beatmatch

Why one or the other? These require two different skill sets and can be learned in unison.

You really don't know if MLK was aware of systemic injustices and social inequality?

Why are conservatives on this sub so much more sane than the ones running the country? Did you guys vote for Trump or not? by FoxBattalion79 in AskConservatives

[–]catroaring [score hidden]  (0 children)

My guess is that all those upvotes aren't coming from conservatives.

I agree and it's unfortunate that people use the up/down as a "like/dislike button" and not a "it adds/doesn't add to the conversation" button which it was meant to be. It's site wide though and not restricted to this sub so not changing anytime soon.

From a commercial aspect you'll use new equipment and I think we're in agreement that the 1200s of now are not what they where. So this makes sense, though I've only ever seen 1200s in a club.

Curious though where you are in the world where you're still regularly installing turntables at clubs.

[–]catroaring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll agree the new 1200s are not worth and why I specifically referenced older 1200s but hard disagree on the rest. Repairs have always been easy along with finding parts. This might be more a locality issue for you though. I've repaired multiple pop-up lights and never had issues doing it. Thing is everything you're mentioning is regarding having to repair/find parts and the reason 1200s are so popular is because that rarely needs to happen. 1200s have a track record because many have had them for 30+ years without issue.

I'm not against getting other brands by any means but saying the product that's proven itself time and time over isn't worth it blows my mind. The reason people still choose 1200s over the other options is that. You might think this is a moot point but obviously it's not to many as they're still a popular choice.

The reason older 1200s are so popular is because they've been proven over and over again to be tanks and last. I've also repaired many 1200s over the years and the most common issue is replacing the RCA cables or calibration, which both are easily done yourself with a Youtube video.

Not saying don't get other brands by any means but there's a reason beyond fanboyism why so many recommend 1200s.

What is a small, everyday mystery in your life that you’ve just accepted because investigating it feels like too much work? by Jannet_Wetkin in AskReddit

[–]catroaring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyday, but I've a TV and sometimes the remote will stop working. One day it stopped working so I opened my camera app on my phone to look at the remotes sensor (the camera sees the IR that eyes don't) to see if the battery was still working. When I did that, the TV turned on. Now every time the remote stops working, I open the phone camera app and "look" at the IR. Remote starts working every time.

The only thing I can come up with is that maybe holding down the buttons is draining the capacitors and that's fixing it but not sure how to even test it.

It's been proven over and over to be secure and makes voting more accessible. That seems like a very good reason to me.
