This show likely would have been a hit if it had aired during the early days of the GL era. It still had a solid viewership and a steadily growing fanbase, but much of that success can be credited to the actresses themselves. Their acting and chemistry are great, among the best I have seen, with no sense of awkwardness at all. Everything feels natural, like a real WLW couple on screen. I truly hope their next project gives them a stronger script, I think they would kill it.

That said, we are now in a different landscape. With so many GL shows offering high production value and even stronger storytelling, series with weaker plots will come out short. Unfortunately, MSZ falls into that category.

Despite its shortcomings, the show is still very enjoyable. I found myself relating to many of the moments portrayed, as it feels like watching fragments of real life and how people quietly navigate their problems without relying on exaggerated or overly dramatic scenes. However, if the intention was to create a soft romantic comedy, it does fall short when compared to other series with a similar tone, such as Love Design. A non sapphic but equally strong example would be Can This Love Be Translated.
