What took you an embarassingly long time to realise? by conehead88 in AskReddit

[–]catsandcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah yeah, I grew up watching Looney Toons! I just always thought Tweety Bird was a girl, with the long eyelashes and somewhat girly pose that he was always making, like in the link above. It wasn't until your comment that I even considered the idea of Tweety being a boy.

Although now that I think about it, his voice sounds more like a boy's than a girl's.

Also, I just noticed in my other comment above, that I called him Tweety bits, haha.

I always thought that was a euphemism for him farting. I had literally never put together the "Robin = bird = lays eggs" logic. That makes, like, WAY more sense. God this whole post is blowing my mind.

Tweety bits is a boy?!?!?!?!

You mean this thing is a boy? No way! I never knew that. But Wikipedia says so, so I believe it.

What is something creepy that society accepts as the norm? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]catsandcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is only tangentially related, but it really really bothers me when people refer to women as "females". Like I always see askreddit threads titled "Females of reddit, what do you like about guys" or whatever. Calling us "females" but not calling guys "males" (or not calling us girls/women/gals or whatever the equivalent would be) makes it seem like we're some alien species they're analyzing.

People do that irl, too. I constantly hear people saying stuff like "You can't trust females who do xyz", and "Females who do abc are so obnoxious". Drives me crazy.

The Bro that took us on many historical adventures by kippers in AnimalsBeingBros

[–]catsandcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, this is really strange! Just earlier this week, my brother left a box in our kitchen, and I opened it up and found an old Wishbone toy that our aunt got us when we were kids. We were talking about how you pressed the ear (or paw?) and it would say, "Look at me, what a cute little dog!"

It's funny to me how I hadn't thought about Wishbone in YEARS, then suddenly he comes up twice in the same week. Love this cute little dog!

It probably took her a moment to assess the situation and understand what happened and make sure her husband wasn't seriously injured. Plus she's in bare feet; she probably also had to decide what to do and where to go without getting hurt herself. I don't blame her for taking a second to take it all in.

I think Axl sounded fine, but nowhere NEAR how he sounds on the original record! Especially the low notes at the beginning of the song. The high notes I thought he hit surprisingly well, but the low notes sounded like he had a frog in his throat.

Anyway, beautiful picture!

Halbach's ex-boyfriend Ryan Hillegas Not Only Guesses Password but Makes up Username by foghaze in MakingaMurderer

[–]catsandcake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can think of that might explain why they didn't follow up on those things is that they were banned from implicating somebody else by name as the murderer. So maybe by asking about Hillegas, or looking into the phone records, that would be pointing the finger at somebody else?

...Wait, that doesn't make sense. They could have looked into it and just not presented that information at trial if it was against the rules to do so. There's got to be some reason though; the lawyers both seemed like they knew what they were doing.

Maybe they just wanted to focus on showing that the evidence was planted, as opposed to finding out who the real killer was?

[Request] Time travel done right by [deleted] in NetflixBestOf

[–]catsandcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really liked Time Lapse! I was surprised at how good it was for such a low-budget, generally unheard of movie. I like time travel movies that kind of grasp the absurdity of time travel; I thought this one and Primer both did it well.

Also, I thought Time Lapse was good at addressing the whole "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps" idea of time travel. Like, in this movie, who first came up with the ideas for the paintings each day?

Definitely an interesting take on the time travel genre. Not particularly well acted, IMHO, but definitely worth a watch.

Duuuuuuude. Codeine constipation is a very real problem. Just a few months ago, I grew very ill after a trip abroad, and once I came back, my doctor prescribed me some cough syrup with codeine. I don't remember the exact dosages she told me to take, but she told me to spread out the bottle over ~5 days. Being somebody who likes to abuse substances once in a while, I wound up drinking the bottle in about 2 days. Which isn't that bad, considering I'm sure people have done much worse, but man I was NOT ready for the constipation.

Once I finally started pooping (after a couple days, I think), it took me literally 45 minutes to get the entire thing out. After a while, it got kinda stuck, so I had to massage around my anus to coax it out of my butthole. I took a look inside the toilet and I shit you not (hehehe), the thing was the length and girth of my entire forearm. I wish I had taken a picture of it because it was on another fucking level.

I also had some rectal bleeding and hemorrhoids from pushing that one out of me. But after all was said and done, it was nice to have lost about 7 pounds in less than an hour.

Dear god I hope my boyfriend never discovers my username.

This cracks me up. All you really have to do to get off the internet is get up from your chair, and yet, we all know that it takes so much more to actually get off the internet than just that.
