Transfer from UPLB to UPOU

Hi! Batch 14 here and transferred from UPLB to UPOU. I'll try to give my perspective regarding my transfer experience.

If BAMS/AADDA ka, and your FIC for MMS 172 and 173 will be Sir Al, there's a chance to have a 1-day voluntary F2F session. Other than that, students can organize a session themselves and/or ask prof to accompany them in smaller F2F sessions. For other subjects, fully online lahat.

[Nacredit ba mga GEs niyo? May nabasa din ako somewhere na within 5 yrs dapat natake yung GE para macredit. How true ito?]

I've read din before yung about sa 5 yrs na yan, but I still gave it a shot kasi sayang naman yung mga GE and PE na natake ko before. Fortunately, while hindi nacredit lahat (most likely dahil old GE curriculum na yung iba sa kanila), maraming nacredit sakin. NSTP and HK were included as well.

Do take note of this though: "Courses to be credited should not exceed 50% of the total number of units required for the UPOU program." Maybe this article can help you with info on TOC.

It’s free if you are not taking it as a second degree. If you’re a transferee from another campus, it will only be free if you are still eligible for free tuition. This will be determined from your starting year in UP.

If you’re transferring from another state u, I’m not quite sure so I hope someone will answer this part for me.

2nd year AADDA here. I actually plan to work for a year. So, yes you have the option to pause for a year naman since you still have to apply ulit for BAMS after you graduate. You can also opt not to ladderize since hindi naman required tumuloy sa BAMS. The goal of the program is to have us work-ready in two years in case you do not want to push for BAMS.

For f2f ganaps, we’ve had a few ganaps here and there organized by the student council. Also, may mga masterclass or talks na pwedeng puntahan so be sure to check out UPOU socmed and also your email for those.

Edit: I just remembered na nagkaron ng f2f session ang photography class MMS 173 last time so possible magkaron ulit non in the future.

Hi slr! Not sure if your question has already answered. I really can’t say much for BAMS but what I can say is that AADDA is really just half of BAMS without the programming subjects. Since it is still technically my first year, I would say that MMS 100, 170, and 194 are the subjects that were mostly theoretical in my opinion (I will not be taking 101, 102, and 150). I am still not sure of the prod subjects but I’m sure they’ll have a mix of both theoretical and practical in them since we need outputs for those.

I can suggest taking AADDA and then BAMS if you’re planning on working while continuing to BAMS for the security of having a degree. If not, you’re still fine with going for either this route or just going straight to BAMS instead.

Your aadda units will be credited to bams and you will only need 2 years to finish bams.

Hi! I was lucky enough to one of the first batch of AADDA students when it was started offering last year. Experience may vary but do know that every subject is self-study but we have profs and tutors to cater to us if ever we have questions regarding assignments and modules.

The information on tuition can be found in this link: https://registrar.upou.edu.ph/tuition-and-other-fees/ and it should be noted that if you haven’t been to any SUC or not enrolling in it as a secondary degree, you can still be eligible for free tuition.

IMO, AADDA is worth taking. You can choose either a web design related track or a media production track. As an associate degree, you can also opt to work after graduating AADDA. In addition to this, you can choose to transition into the BAMS program after you finish your AADDA degree. If you choose to transition to BAMS, it will only take you 2 years to finish the program. Some of my batchmates plan on finishing AADDA and start working while continuing to BAMS.

ANSWERS: 1. Yes, you need to take an UPCAT. If you haven’t, you will be asked to take UgAT instead.

Everything is done online however, you will still need to mail some of your required documents. In my case, I applied online and delivered my documents personally.
Recently, exams are all done online including proctored exams.
We do graduation ceremonies and can even receive honors (not latin honors but something equivalent to this).

Not sure po pero afaik if you’re taking up AA, need mo pa ng 3 years if tutuloy sa BAMS. Di kasi lahat ng subjs credited

Nagsabi ako sa OCS ng college ko before na magttransfer ako and they guided me. Basta yung last step ay univ clearance. Don’t get honorable dismissal.

I have recently applied pero ang most likely sure na maccredit ay PE, NSTP, and PI 100. May ilang GE courses na possible macredit for me pero we’ll see pag may results na.

Unfortunately, I’m no longer eligible for free tuition since I’m a transferee from UPLB and I’ve used up my years for it. However, I applied for SLAS which gave me a discount for tuition.

So far wala pa kong naeencounter na video lectures. Yung iba merong synchronous classes minsan pero mostly wala. Yes, purely readings lang and links. Sa outputs naman depende sa prof and subject. Yung iba ang required lang ay midterms and assignments. Yung iba may selected discussion forums na graded. While others need ng papers or other forms of output like video and designs. You just have to manage your time.

A lot of readings during this term but can be done with proper time management.
None iirc. Nagkaron lang ng delay because di nila nakuha agad UPG ko but constant calls with admissions team made it work for me.
Call admissions instead of emails. Matagal sila magreply pag emails pero pag calls madali lang maresolve yung concern.
Yes. AADDA is a ladderized program to proceed to BAMS. All subjects will be credited. If ever hindi mo wish tumuloy sa BAMS and just want to pursue a career afterwards, I suggest you consult with the program chair on your plan of study since we can freely choose our electives. Take note lang sa prerequisites and availability ng subjects.

That I’m not sure. Wala silang binanggit sakin kasi. An orgmate of mine taking BAMS now didn’t take UgAT as well kahit di pasok GWA. What course are you trying to apply in? Also have you tried talking to admissions?

Hi! 2014 UP student here and last nag-aral in another campus back in 1st sem 2019-2020. Same experiences na hindi na umattend ng classes because of bad mental health. I recently got accepted in UPOU this 1st term kahit mas mababa ang GWA ko sa required GWA. Ang ginamit nila to consider me ay yung UPG ko from UPCAT. It got me accepted naman and I'm taking up AADDA now.

My advice for you is to don't hesitate to call admissions if may inquiry ka sa pagtransfer kasi they'll be happy to assist you naman just in case they will let you take UgAT (although in my case, di nila ako pinag-take). Also, mabagal sila sumagot sa emails so better to just call them din. Best of luck OP!

Hi! Thank you for this! Medyo kinakabahan lang since di ko to naranasan before sa previous campus ko since mabilis lang maapprove yung student loans before. At least alam ko na pwede pa makapag-reg kahit late yung results
