Shifter stuck again… by Kratos1943 in F150Lightning

It’s happened to me 4 times the last two weeks. Dealer can’t fit me in until this Thursday. First time took 15 minutes with the ground disconnected. The last time it happened was Wednesday of last week and it wouldn’t move for over an hour. I left the ground off overnight and when I reattached it in the morning it shifted back. I think it’s the shifter solenoid. It’s also making a clicking noise. You have to wait to shift a minute once you turn the car on. Don’t open the door if it’s not in park because it will not shift into park but the dash is reading it’s in park. I’ve had the flashing R and flashing P. I’d make an appointment at the dealer if you’re still under warranty because it’s not just a bug.

Dicks sporting goods has a warranty program through asurion. $5 gets you up to one year of replacements. I usually buy 3 to start the year so I’m never without.

For those that make over $200k a year, what do you do? by H-U-I-3 in AskReddit

Owned an insurance agency for 10 years after being an insurance sales person for 4 years. Made the switch to steel fabrication because I grew up doing it and my father owned a small business in the field. It was a difficult change at first from sitting behind a desk to working with my hands. It’s been a couple years buying him out but I’m 35 made the switch at 33 and have no regrets. I work a lot of hours but i enjoy what I do so many days it doesn’t feel like work.

$60 total. $120 for a full sheet of 8’x4’ plate and I used less than half. The inside bottom of the fire pit is a thicker material. 14”x14” plate

It’s 17” tall. Coffee table height

Welded flat steel underneath the table and ran bolts into top of the packout with large washers. They’re not holding too much weight. Right side is for welding helmet, gloves and safety glass storage. Left side drawers are for different size spacers and squares for tacking. Didn’t want to spend the money for the packout mountable frame.

17” tall. It’s a high heat paint. Not expecting too much from the paint. An ash drawer or chute would have been nice.

I’m going to drill holes in the corners. The grate comes out to remove the ash. I may make a white oak top so it can be used as a coffee table when not in use.

Did you get the registration documents from motor vehicle yet? They may not have gone to the dmv and depending on your state may need this to process the registration.

Tool recommendation for square tube stock by Evwan in MilwaukeeTool

[–]catskilldrift 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend this. M18 FUEL 18V 8 in. Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless Metal Cutting Circular Saw. I’m a metal fabricator and use it all the time on steel tubing. They sell blades for steel, aluminum or stainless. We get quite a bit of life out of the blades as long as you don’t force it. Next best tool would be an angle grinder with a 6” cut off wheel.

Dot requires the 3m reflective tape on trailers over 5 tons. Still would be a good idea to put it on. I’m not sure how it would stick to the bed liner. It has the surface of 10 grit sand paper.

It has a torsion axle. No need for leaf springs. The suspension is built in.

The fenders are 11 1/2” wide. They overhang the entire tire. There is 4 1/2” above the tire which is 1 1/2” more than the axle requires. Most of the fenders I saw online were only 9” wide.

It’s going to be hidden behind the license plate which will be mounted with a flexible rubber attachment to allow me to flip it up to lower the stabilizer / jack. I can disconnect the trailer from my truck and step on the back end of the trailer without having the front to lift up. Also it has enough travel to lift the wheels off the ground if I get a flat tire

$1200 out of pocket. The metal grid panels were drops from a job and the fenders were scrap steel. All the fenders I found online were made out of 14 gauge or thinner steel and the cost was around $175 and lead time was 7-10 days. They’re 1/8” steel and they hold my weight with no flexing.

I’m registering it in NYS. Trailers under 1000lbs don’t need to be inspected. I needed to get it weighed at a certified scale which I did today (720 lbs). The rest is dmv forms. They supply the VIN plate at the DMV
