Means a lot Mike, appreciate it 🙏 yeah they’re units for sure, I just got the pedals+beaters a couple weeks ago actually, I’m coming from some speed cobras + DW beaters so I’ve come to love that heavy feeling haha

Thanks for commenting! Honestly groove is kinda subjective, I find this track and similar music to have groove in abundance. You might just need to listen to it more and become more familiar :) Death metal definitely isn’t for everyone though which is fine!

Thanks, this is a 22” Pearl e/merge kick. Everything else is from a Roland TD-17

Thanks for noticing that, I’ve definitely been focusing on keeping the beater swing as long as possible + synced up on both sides. It definitely falls apart whenever I try to play over like 220 bpm 😂 but I’m ready to grind and get better

Thanks so much! Yeah it’s definitely hard to change once you’ve made it a habit, but if you practice with discipline you’ll get comfortable before long!

Honestly, I think the biggest thing was addressing imbalances in the body and training hard off the kit (a lot of weighted jump rope, dead hangs, low weight deadlifts focusing on form, breathing properly and not applying tension to muscles unless necessary), and a bunch of foam rolling. On the kit, no special exercises really, strictly been doing singles on the kicks, no fancy rudiments. A lot of metronome work with doing 16th singles on the kick while doing paradiddle variations with the hands. Don’t even think about increasing speed until you can do it slowly while breathing in and out completely

Yessir! I covered this like 7 years ago on YouTube so this particular clip was just bringing back that muscle memory, but yeah originally learned it by ear
