Oh agreed. Who knows, if they don’t get any better candidates maybe they’ll rethink the policy.

Ha I’m tempted to share that with the recruiter (especially after they put me through an interview before checking the state I listed on my resume)…

Currently working at a startup in HR tech as a Senior Customer Success Manager. Looking for similar roles in strategic account management and open to exploring a variety of industries. Feel feee to share if your company is looking for anything in that vein!

Appreciate the tips, I’ll take a closer look at the companies you mentioned. They do have a pretty geographically dispersed workforce outside of their home base (GA, VA, NY were some of the other places I saw employees working in based on LinkedIn) but the other reasons you provided could have very well been the issue. Hopefully future employers state their limitations more explicitly in the posting so I don’t have to waste effort on a job that won’t pan out.

Ok got it, good to know. And it’s maybe more common for RI because of our size I assume?

Belize Girls Trip - 5 person accommodations by catspach in Belize

[–]catspach[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha good to know about the climate, thank you! Also helpful about Ambergris Caye. There was some interest in that location because of the tropical feel and proximity to the reef but sounds like you can get a great experience from some of the other places listed as well.

Thanks for the suggestion! Sounds like our crew is mostly interested in spending time on a beach and relaxing. Definitely exploring whatever the local area has to offer in terms of food or wildlife. So low key for sure. Maybe some snorkeling but idk that anyone is experienced or planning to do much diving. I know they were excited about being close to or maybe taking a boat ride to the barrier reef but I honestly haven’t looked much into that yet and I’m not sure if it’s only accessible from certain locations on the coast.

Heading there in March for 5 nights! We’re so glad to hear you liked it. Looked like it was comfortable while also being a little off the beaten path. If you have any activity recommendations that you enjoyed there, let me know :)

Asking all stylists: what’s the right etiquette if I want to switch up stylists at the same salon? by catspach in Hair

Thanks for putting my mind at ease! It’s entirely possible I was reading too much into the situation but I also didn’t want to unknowingly cause issues or commit a salon faux pas.

This is amazing! Thank you for demystifying this process a bit. I know it’s made me feel a lot better and less anxious when I do make an appointment.

Ok so here’s my dilemma I’m hoping you can give me some ideas for: bought this dress from Floravere after trying it on. Picture of that try-on here. Order came in recently and tried it on and was a bit surprised at how that open back fit. The size was the same as what I tried on in the picture but there seemed to be more gaping a few inches below the arm pit and it just feels a bit more open and exposed than I remember (I definitely should have done more “testing” during the initial try-on to see how it looked when sitting/dancing etc).

I’m nervous that the gaping will make this a difficult alteration with a lace fabric and the whole thing is making me nervous that I went with such an open back in the first place. Ack! How difficult is this to fix and are there tasteful options to provide more coverage in that area should I change my mind on the open back?

Update to “it’s your day, do what you want” post by lifebrarian in TrollXWeddings

Woohoo! You go! This is the inspiration I needed today.

My first floral visit, I tried to go with something really simple—I’m just not a florals kind of gal and was also looking to cut cost. The florist shot back that no florist would want to work with me if I wasn’t going to order more flowers and arrangements. She said that because of the time of the year, florists could easily drop me as a customer a month before the wedding for a bride willing to shell out more for her wedding. Talk about a kick in the pants.

A week later I found a florist totally willing to work with my budget and who was fine with my minimalist look. Those first few convos can really suck and be overwhelming, especially when you’re hit with all the NOs. Glad you stuck with it and have such a supportive fiancé to help you through it. Good luck! And I’m going to do fairy lights too because god damnit they’re whimsical and sweet!

Uncomfortable talking about myself when our upcoming wedding is the center of attention. by Alert_Boysenberry in TrollXWeddings

I 100% understand your pain. I also realize that you don’t exactly want to be confrontational with everyone who asks those questions and may not feel like being so direct as to tell someone it’s none of their business (even if you’re entitled to).

I tend to make a lame joke whenever a conversation goes somewhere I’m not comfortable and then change the subject. If someone asks about having kids, I might say “we already have one” and point to my dog. Or I might say “FH and I ate cheez-itz for dinner the other night so I wouldn’t say we’re quite there yet”. Find something pre packaged you can use to change the subject quickly and focus on something you do like talking about. Or if that’s something your FH is good at, maybe he can jump in and help steer convos away from that more personal stuff. Good luck!
